sorry for the misleading title, they are actually hens :)

i built a chicken coop and got a couple of silkie chickens.

my wife named them pooky and moop moop.

i'm waiting for a few dry days in a row to paint the coop.

now tell me how cute my chickens are, please.

only about $120 to build the coop, another $20 for the silkies.

I saw a boy on tv last night that was a conjoined twin that didn't seperate. Poor little guy had legs growing out of his chest including an ass a pair of balls and a jimmy. Your post made me think of that, sorry if it's too off topic. Nice organic fertilizer machines you got there BTW.

Lol buildin up some organic nutes huh?
i hear that it is not a good idea to use animal poo on plants you plant to eat or smoke. i will use the poo in my compost pile for the non-edible 'show' flowers.

i love fried chicken..lol
ain't much meat on a silkie, they weigh about 2 pounds total, bones and all. although they do have black skin and black meat, would be cool to eat a black chicken. like drinking green milk on paddy's day.

I would treat it like a chemical fert, just flush the plant 2-3 weeks before harvest.

That's awesome man, I'm so jealous!! Are you planning on having fresh eggs? That would be cool. Coop looks good. +rep

They look delicious.
too much work for too little reward, kinda like a sunflower seed.

silkies are not great layers, they only lay about 2-3 a week. still good though. might get a third one since i have room for it.

thanks on the coop. my only mistake was making the ladder into the roost too steep. it is funny watching them get up or down though :) will have to rebuild that tomorrow.

You should've just got some good layers, save yourself the money on eggs. And they make good pets too, and you reap more benefits from them. But who am I to tell you what to do, enjoy!

yeah, the silkies are not great layers but the wife thought they were too cute to pass up. i want to get a full sized chicken once these two settle in.

Was on Discover TLC called the 8 limbed boy I think.
i will have to check that out. morbid curiosities beckon
