I know I'm not suppose too, but I have too. What's gonna happen?

OK so I currently have 2 autos about 20" tall and are now forming the little white hairs all over the bud sites. Unfortunately they are in 1gal pots. They are for sure about to be root bound if not already so I want to put them in bigger pots. I understand this is a big no no.

So do i deal with a root bound plant? or re-pot this far into flowering and take the risk of the plant becoming damaged?

If its about to be rootbound, you should be able to transplant it without the rootsball breaking in half or into peices. I would transplant it asap.
Make sure to water it 1-2hours before(to prevent dry roots from being brittle and the dirt from crumbling(VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT FORGET(You will stress it out like you are trying to prevent if you don't water it before your transplant))).

Squeeze the edges of the pot and make sure everything's broken free. Then cut the bottom of the 1 gal pot off, and a slit up the side. Set the 1 gal inside your larger pot and fill in around the 1 gal. Shimmy out the bottomless, slit-open 1 gal.

Very good idea, just remember mistakes is what stresses the plant out.

Don't accidently drop the pot trying to hold it up with 1 hand while cutting with the other, while your trying not to let it drop through the bottom of the 1gal, while your moving the dirt in the new container to be suitable for a transplant.

if the plant is root bound all u need to do is sqeez the sides of the pot gently, place ur hand on top of the soil w/ the base of the stem in between ur fingers, flip the plant over and all the dirt and roots come outta the pot clean, and put it in a new pot gently, imo all that cutting ur pot thing is bullshit, ur most definately gonna end up cutting roots off while trying to cut the bottom off the pot, the bottom has roots circled all around it when its rootbound, so cutting will actually put added stress on ur plant, not stress it less, also ur cutting up a perfectly good container(not the most of ur worries tho)ne way i dnt kno wher ppl get this notion that cutting the pots is less stressful, ur gonna disturb the roots more this way than using ne other transplant method, in turn stressing it more

hey guys thanks for the info and as for cutting the pots, I dunno if im down for that like said above I don't wanna cut the roots. Im sure it will come out one big ball and I'll be able to easily set it in it's new home.

if its a massive cause of root bound and the roots have started working there way back up u might have to tickle the bottom otherwise theres no sense in transplanting.if u got the cash if grab a bottle of seasol it will help a shlt load with transplant stress.

I transplanted my plant when she was three foot tall out of a 2 gallon pot into a 6 gallon just the way Mr.Marijuana said for you to do it .. And my plant was already in 12/12 cycle for 2 weeks and no harm came to my plant... It just grew bigger.. :)
