I need help with my first grow - pics attached.

Hello all,

I am in my first grow but I made a mistake, I started it right before I left for two weeks on business and left my brother in charge. I germinated the seed, started it in rockwool, and then left for two weeks. He then transplanted it outside, in his garden, for two weeks and I just got the plant back last night. When he gave it back to me he transplanted it into a pot that is slightly larger than 1 gallon. My questions are as follows:
  1. Is it too late to start training my plant?
  2. What training method do you suggest? I was going to try low stress but I'm not sure if it is too late for that method.
  3. Will transplanting it again, this soon, be bad? Right now the root ball is about 1/4 the size of a fist and he didn't put any rocks or anything at the bottom of the pot. I am afraid that the pot is too large for this plant (without any drainage material on the bottom).
  4. How soon is too soon to start the veg stage? I was thinking of starting it in 3 weeks or so (depending on how well the training goes).
The plant is 8 inches from the soil to the top but I was thinking of lowering the plant in the soil so it is only about 5-6 inches. I figured that i can do low stress training better that way. Any tips would be appreciated. Right now I have it under floros (it has improved over night under these lights verses outside).

You will notice a ruler in one of the pictures. I did not want to show the numbers on the ruler because the ruler could clue you into my location.

Should I train it at all or is it too late? I just built a grow box out of a corner cabinet. I have 23W CFL (100W equivalent) and I have 6 of them in the box. I'm just now putting the lights in, I'll post pics when I'm done.

Here is my "thrown together" grow box. As I said, I have 6 23W CFL bulbs (100W equivalence). So, in theory, I have 600W in this corner cabinet. Is this enough or is it overkill? I tried to position the lights so the sides and top are getting light. The top of the plant is about 8 inches from the top of the cabinet and about 3 inches from all of the lights. No lights are directly above the plant.

I have 6 more seeds germinating so I am hoping to get this down before the other 6 are ready.

the lights u have for veg is fine. the plant looks stretched, you should bury it deeper or just add more soil

Ic. U, I was thinking of planting it a bit deeper but I didn't want to stress the plant too much. It was transplanted twice in one day (within 5 hours) and that day was yesterday. I just tied it off to try and train it a bit. I tied it down so that it is about 2 inches from the pot. I figured that I would try this out for a day or two and see if it is producing more chutes to get to that light.

You said that what I have is good for veg an I have read that you should use HPS for flowering but will I noticed a huge difference in yield if I switch to HPS during flowering? I also threw a fan in the box for good measure. I will go take a picture and post it.

I started training after week three and my gals are doing great... I think there were five or six nodes when I started LST...

S50, yup that was a smart idea to tie it down instead of transplanting it again just because of the stretch. idk about the differences in yield if u switch to hps lighting because i myself is a first grower & for veg i just use a 40 watt fl light for veg and my plant is doing pretty good, u can check it out. but i do have a hps light ready when i start to flower.

This particular seed is just a random seed that I saved. I am quite surprised but, only after 12 hours, the whole basement started to smell. The odor doesn't bother me (I think it smells great) because I own my house and live alone so it can stink all it wants. The other seeds that I have germinating are from a strain of Haze but they are about 3 years old. I hope that they still germinate.

I have grown before (with great results) but I was using a friend's house and equipment. He grew for medical reasons so he had an incredible setup with all of the features you can imagine.
