I need HELP with ventilation/inline fan problems...

I have a 2' X 7' X 7' space which I have installed a 4" duct booster fan (a whimpy 80 CFM fan) that has been working decent keeping the temperatures around 75-80, being attached to my awesome DIY carbon filter. Now the problem is that with such a good seal and no intake right now (other than the door cracke dopen) it did not control the odor enough nor did it keep the room cool enough for my expectations (you get what you pay for-right?).. The DIY filter actually works GREAT but I just recently up graded to a Cyclone 4" inline fan (around 180 CFM) and a 4" X 18" carbon filter; I do not have either installed yet, I need help to figure out a way to reduce the noise (this fan sounds like a jet taking off, as many inline fans do.)
I know the fan/filter will definitely control temps/odor once installed as I'm only using a couple TEK 2 fluorescent fixtures (nearly 4 times as many lumens as a regular t5 fluoro) and the smell is almost controlled by my homemade filter. The thing is though, if the door stays closed - temps get to high but with the door open the filter can not properly clean the odor.. so installation of my new gear is imperative, I just need guidance.

I'm not a cheapskate, as one might think- I just love DIY. I have all kinds of equipment but most of it is overkill for my current room (3 600 watt hps/mh digital ballasts, an open winged reflector, cool tube reflector, air cooled hood reflector, etc.. 465 CFM 6" inline fan, I got all kinds of stuff) but I am still interested in running the most efficient room as possible. Sorry to write so much, any help is greatly appreciated.

Breakdown of the questions I am asking, without ranting:

1. How to attach mounting brackets that come with the inline fans to the fan? (none of the holes seem to line up and the screws that came with it seem to be too small for most of the holes on the brackets.)

2. A good way to hook up an inline fan that will reduce the horrible noise that they emit?

I'm open to all suggestions & +Rep for answers/opinions.

I had the same problem when I went to the 180 fan. Here is my cheap and easy solution. I suspended the fan using straps, and didn't use the mounting brackets. That solved the issue for me.

those black rubber bungee cords work good but really his problem is caused by sucking more air out then is coming into room
ugot to have a intake
if u dont want to mess door up buy a cheap door same size and add intake vent and replace till u finish living there then but original door back

I have my fan hanging from 2 eye bolts in the ceiling with a couple bungee cords. No vibrations at all. A speed controller will help you get best airflow for your space with the least amount of noise. For example I can run my fan at about 40% and it gets my garden just as cool as full speed does. virtually silent.

Thanks man, I think that's what I'm going to do since I already have some bungie straps.. any ideas on how to attach 'em?

well since the holes dont line up u can drill them correctly or make whats there work some how
hard to say without a pic

How did you guys attach the bungie cords to the fan without the brackets? I've seen a lot of set ups like this on the internet but none of them are large enough that I can tell exactly how they are held. I hate hate for it to fall and hurt my mommies :/ . I want to hang it in my grow but I thought of sitting my filter on the floor then duct then inline fan then duct to exhaust flange- would this work or does the filter have to be at the top to control the smell? I think my fan is powerful enough to cool the room even from the floor and through 4-5 ft of straight ducting. I gave you all +rep, I will give more to anyone with a reply, many thanks in advance guys..

I found a thread about ventilation by Subcool, which really didn't suggest anything you guys had told me but I'm about to strap it in- I'll post some pix of my final rig. subcool knows what he is talking about he is a breeder if u didnt know
just make sure it is strapped up securely u dont want it falling on your babys
