Better genetics is a good place to start. Also look for strains known for large production numbers.

Without being able to see what you have grown and see the enviroment in which it was grown its hard to say.Even with a good strain, if the enviroment isnt good for healthy plant growth (i.e. crowding,ambient temps too high,root temps too high,humidity too low or high) your still not going to produce much.I grow in a 2x4 ebb and flow under 600 watts with six plants and i usually only get a little over 1 oz a plant.Its possible to get more out of mine (ive seen what they can make under pretty close to ideal conditions)but the enviroment i grow in is pretty harsh with high temps in the air,high temp nutrient water,humidity way too high, no CO2. What im getting at is make an ideal enviroment for marijuana to grow in before you worry about a better strain.Is the strain that you have grown a big yielder? If so I would say its the enviroment.
As for your nutes,There not going to matter that much. most of your chemical nutes are all the same. they are pretty much geared to grow anything you want.IMO there isnt one that is better than the other.Its all in your preference.They all claim there product is better or has this special ingredient the others dont have,but look at the label, compare two different brands and see how different they really are.
Now you could add additives such as big bud,or Floralicious. these can be used both in veg and bud.these help give your plants the sugars that it needs.they help the plant get thicker,fuller, and produce some nice fruit,sugar is kind of steroids for plants, but as i said if your enviroment sucks your throwing money right out the window.
