Just remove your lower branches to create a single cola. You can leave the fan leaves, but remove the branches. Probably best to do it a week or so before starting 12/12...

Take a ruler or something and measure the plant. Cut off any branches in the bottom third. The energy that was originally going to go to the lower part to make popcorn bud, will now go to the top to increase the size of the main cola. You will actually increase yield this way, despite cutting off places where bud could grow.

Very well put.

o r'lly? a cola will yield more than letting it bud all over? i've got 4 on the go heading into 12/12 in about 4 days, too late to try lollipopping?

In this guys sea of green grow,
https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/6592-get-harvest-every-2-weeks.html
I believe he trims his clones through the first two weeks of flowering. I've even seen a guy who tops two weeks into flowering, and still gets nice results.

Because the bottom third doesn't get as much light as the rest, most of the energy that gets sent there can't produce as much bud. When lolipopped, that energy gets sent to the top where it can be used more efficiently. Also, growth hormones naturally go to the top of the plant. Energy is used most efficiently at the main cola.

I think that he shows a side by side comparison of a lolipopped, and a non lolipopped clone in the thread I linked. The difference is remarkable.

This will vary slightly from strain to strain,as a few probably do not take well to this technique.

Hope that helped clarify things a bit.

I follow Al B. Fuct's teachings... he's the guy with the op linked above ...

https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-...y-2-weeks.html

I trim the lower third of the plant and anything that grows more than one inch..

So I start with a zero veg clones trimmed like this...

When they show roots like this...

they get planted like this...

Then they get packed into my SoG op... like this...

and I get results like this...

Sativa...

Indica..

Ah... now we get a peek at the drying rack...

I have a daily rotation, so about a zip comes in and out of the racks every day...

It pretty much looks like this all the time...

What's your taste?bongsmilie

INDICA

or SATIVA...:eyesmoke:

and here is the whole op....

And it all starts with one of these...;-)

I know there are different styles of Loliipops...

But this is how you do a Single Cola SOG Lollipop Fuct Style... ;-)

I hope this helps... but confirm with some other people too... I'm still new at this...

Cheers...

Here's what my op can do with one of them zero veg clones on a good day...

I'm chopping some pretty good clones tonight...:hump:

I let some go a little longer, and some will be a little less done..:o

But they all look tasty...:weed:

...here is the first of the eve..

This bud is solid, packed, dense, heavy... just really really DENSE bud... almost no hair or airspace .. just hard, solid bud...

Very sour smell and taste...

This is MEDICINE... knock you out kind of weed....

I only let this strain go to full maturity for my bedside stash... the one I hit when the pain wakes me up and I want to go back to my dreams...:eyesmoke:

I wish I knew the strain name to share, I am SURE this is top grade DNA... but I'll never know...

Anyways...

Bagseed Indica - Zero Veg Clone - Wet Weight 97Grams

Pre-Trim...

Trimmed all of the Fan Leaves...

that's a standard size bic lighter by the way.... not a small one...

Full manicured Bud weighing in at 97.2 grams WET WEIGHT

wellll, i've got a bunch of strains, some more important than others, so i've decided that it's gonna be my little, well big now, passion #1 that i'll experiemtn on, i started off just taking off the lower dying leaves etc, used a stanley knife so as not to shock it too much. i got a bit paranoid when it came to lopping off those big old budding stems, they're not budding, but they're big, and they're almost on their 4th node, so i don't know if it's wise to lop em :D

Well...

If you are packing them in as tight as I am, there is no room for bottom branches... they will get crowded...

The Bud I just posted escaped my pruning... I missed it... but those bottom buds should not be there, that energy should have gone to make the cola even bigger...

But it was only one, so it didn't cause any troubles...

But if all 48 in the tray had bottom branches, the would have been way overcrowded, shading each other and causing poor air circulation... and that is a whole other can of worms...

But if you have the space to let the bush out... then have all the branches you want..

There is a style of lollipoping bushes... I don;t do that, I do SOG... lots of small plants...

But FDD can steer you in the right direction with lollipoping bushes..

I've never done it...

best of luck...

cheers. i hope to learn anything and everything :P i was smokin up a storm last night and had a crazy vision of what i want to do with a pair of plants.

both lollipopped, real nice and tall etc, but the idea, is you plant them both in one big pot, then you're basically aiming for a bonsai, but the idea is that you get two incredible yet similar growing strains, something white and frosty, and something with masses of colur, then grow them in a semi-LST kind of method to create an intertwining helix with the trunks :D wouldn't be of any benefit, but man if done right that would look cool :D

It would look cool...

Someone said they were going to LST a Peace Sign of bud...

But I guess he never did...

No benefit, but you're right it can be very cool...
