Hey guys i own a busines and we do well. I have fifteen drivers and were doing about three to four hundred deliveries a day..fifteen vehicles all over the place..my delema is ive had a lot of shit workers come through..its hard to find good workers so now i have for the first time what i feel is a good crew. But they need a push somehow.to help us move to the next level..they make fourteen to fifteen an hour..employee dependent..they forget their shirts. No steel toes..no badge. No proper pants..stupid shit but little things that make us look dumb..late all the time..bitch cuz they want over time then bitch when they get it...they bitch about pay constantly also.h
Honestly heres what im debating. I want to call em into the confrence room and say "heres the deal. I am as of your next.check giving you all raises bringing you from 14 & 15 to 22 /hour...theres a catch. I expect every one of you. To never be late. To allways be good to the customers..i expect every single one of you.to stop bitching. And if you work late you.work late..i expect.you to care and go the extra mile for this.company.because you care about this company...do you think the raise will help? Would you.go the extra mile if i were your boss? I have 95 employees give or take a few because the do rotations for their school here...i can always find more drivers for cheaper but this crew is good and i feel with the push well do better and make more. In turn they will also do better..
What do you think....thanks guys/gals sorry bout the long ass rant.

Do they get dental and medical coverage? What about retirement savings that when they quit they can receive? Those are more important than a pay raise. I got fired from a job once but I had 5k in my bank due to them and me adding money into a retirement fund which lasted me until I found a new job.

on aother note: i definitely think that a raise would be good motivation but you can't just hand it out like candy. Make an example out of one or maybe two of the worst people by firing them for insubordination. Then call the meeting and say that if they don't start getting serious you know where to find people, offer them maybe 18-20 so you still have room to up it without making it seem like you're not raising it that much. I don't know anything about business but that's what it think

Bump em to 18 and lay down the law. If you truly care about them and want them to have that money that is.

The smart business decision for the most profits is to just lay down the law or they lose their jobs because they know what they should be doing and it sounds like they are whiny bitches about it.

You can bump them to 200 an hour if you want but what happens when these problems arise again?

Why not work out a bonus structure based on performance - you can do it many ways.

Well, sounds like a good idea to me. You would expect better performance if you paid them more but I don't think its really gonna work out that way. Although they seem to make a good team they are all individuals, have there own issues but more importantly could quite possibly react differently. In my experiences I have found there is always a motivator within the group. I would find him and bring him aside, come up with a goal for the company to reach and if he can get them to reach it they all get a $3 an hour raise and he gets a bonus. Set a second goal and do it again. Make it quarterly or something. But that way you will find the people who will not change even with the opportunity to make more money and you can replace them.

Make the pay the incentive! Tell them they recieve the $22.00 and hour for the week if they have A) Perfect attendance B) On time C) In uniform D) Great with the customers. etc... If they forget something one time, or late, or have a complaint they lose thier $7 or $8 an hour "BONUS" for the week. I think that would be the most effiecient. Make them work for that extra money. If someone said to me "your a shit bag right now, so im gonna give you a raise and you better get better..."
I'd work hard for a few weeks and go back to my old ways.

Trust me, you cant go wrong with this plan.

It'll also help you weed out the people that are truly hurting your business! They'll stick out like sore thumbs!

Medical that we pay for dental..but it only covers needed shit not cosmetic..they get profit share and 401k. .We give them a percentage like if they toss in fifteen every check we toss in like eight bucks or so..not sure the exact percentage but its better than anyone else around.i give them six flex days a year..call in get paid..and it was two weeks vaca paid..now its three weeks a year..im trying to keep people for the long run...i wanna take care of.my people

I'd offer incentives for actions you see favorable. Base wage $14/h.... Demonstrate you can show up on time in the proper gear for a month $15/h.... Team player showing initiative and growth $16/h.... Acquiring certificates during their off time $17/h..... and so on and so on. Put it down on paper so they know how to achieve higher wages, yet never be hesitant to demote in pay scale when they slip. This may start to give you that happy medium we look for as growers and in business.

The whole show you care by doing a b and c..great idea.i will having this discussion in the am with my brother who also owns the business with me..this is a family business built over thirty.years...i have my ten year old son in there with me every chance i get.because i had a hard time transitioning.to the boss..i want him to be able to assert himself and feel like.hes.doing.it.right...and that he has the right to push his ideas there..i wasnt made to feel that way at all then i was thrust into a possition where i have all these crazy issues to resolve and the choices are mine..and maybe im too friendly with my employees

not bad right?..its not easy at all..its not any easy job..theres heavy lifting and driving all over the world. Practically..the hours can be long..but its the lugging that really makes me feel for them..liquid oxygen and hospital beds are suck ass to lug..all sorts of tanks and chairs and instalations...
And the main thing is they are the front line..these guys are the ones representing us..i dont think some people see it thst way..theyre like fuck em someone else will wanna work..but ok yeah we could have that attitude but then we will never move up. What because theyre delivery drivers? Fuck them? No fuck you...sorry that was at a particular bitch there..........im soo baked

I would love to blaze up with some of em..my best friend works for me and hes constantly trying to hump every girl there and hes had a few..thats stuff i cant go near because id get screwed quicker than i dont even know. But quickly...i could never ever let any of em know i grow i only do it for personal use to help me sleep and eat..it helps me concentrate believe it or not. But it has to be certain weed..some im like duh...plus id probably get blackmailed...lol kinda
