Just about to chop my ladies today... And for my second grow I must say the led lights definitely impressed me I ran two of the same strains under different lights. I'm not sure the weight differences... However I can definitely see that led is definitely better looking and it turned my buds purple as to where the hps turned it a faint purple. All I know is led's bud looks better (to me) I'll post pics of the close ups of the buds when I am through harvesting.

Its my first time growing, and from all the reading ive done it all points toward LED being the better option, so i went with LED as well. I'm really looking to forward to your little experiment's result, also what kind of LED panels are you running? 5w chips? truwattage?

That's actually a cool panoramic. The next thing I would try is putting your led's on the bottom and sides and put your hps on top.

How long did it take to grow the person in the chair?

It took 9 years of my life to get someone I fully trust haha :P also I had one 1000 watt led on the side. Also it was the same strain in the same bucket for that matter just had different spectrum of lights. I'll have to check what brands of led I have

I had one 1000 watt led on the side. And it took me 9 years to grow the one in the chair but she was worth it :) also since this is my second grow I harvested and dried some of my branche @ 65 degrees and @ 65% RH. It is the first week in the jars and I smoked some yesterday night and it is very harsh... Could this be because it's still moist? It looks and smells "fresh" not like wet grass or hay honestly just very fresh.

I switched it up throughout the door on one of my strains is why the hps was on the side. Also I am about to chop them as we speak. Does fresh bud that has only been cured for around a week always taste harsh? I have recently in countered the problem. Sigh... Any reason? I feel I did the dry properly @65 degrees and @65% RH for 9 days

Did you flush it as give it only water for 2 weeks?

I pretty much just lowered the nutes up until the last week and cut the nutes didn't flush however and give it plain water I just kept the nutes as is, and I just started putting plain water for the last week. And the buds I have dried so far smoke very clean and smooth besides the ones that aren't dry

All new bud is harsh at least from my experience. Once the stem on the bud snaps put them all in a jar and tighten the lid. Burp it daily. In 6 weeks YOU WILL ignite the best bud ever. It's so worth it to wait. Why spend so much time growing only to choke it down. All the energy that went into growing those buds cooks in its own juices while sealed in that jar, that's no shit.

So funny I read this... A few days have passed since the last time I smoked my ladies. And this morning I tested some more just to see if it was less harsh... And it wasn't harsh at ALL! It must have been the moisture content. I can wait another 6 weeks. I love the way you put that. I will definitely wait 6 weeks now!

Just wait till its cured 2 weeks, prime time is 2 months jar'd up for me. 9 months they peak to optimum "the best its got" level, after a year and a half things start getting stale, but I guess that has more to do with storage and how air tight things are. Well cured bud can really make even a low yielding plant last a long time.

So the better it's cured the longer it lasts?
For the first few months, but after that it depends on how air tight you can store it if its long term. Mason jars work great for about 1 years storage. Just like canning fresh fruit and veggies, and keep them in a dark pantry. For real long term (like more than a year sitting) you really would want to vacuum seal it and put it in a fridge or something (not the deep freeze!!).

Its actually kind of cool to open up stuff that's been vacuum sealed for a year and it smells fresh as the day you sealed it. Like opening the seal on a can of coffee.

Dang heck yeah I will definitely keep that in mind. But do mason jars work for now? I doubt I'll have anything that lasts longer than a year.

Yea, just make sure you get have a rubber seal on the top, and if at all possible keep them stored in a dark cool place. I have some screw top glass jars inside metal tubes (I think I got them at big lots for like 2 bucks a piece, there like fancy kitchen pasta containers or something, lol).

What I normally do is take say 1 weeks worth and put it into a rubbermaid container for daily use, that way your only opening your jars once in a while. Trust me, it makes things last way longer when you aren't opening your storage jars very often. And the rubbermaid works just fine for storing stuff for 1 week without anything drying out on you. Never use ziplock baggies....ever!!! lol

Once you start doing that, you will really be surprised how much longer everything lasts. You wont have those dry bowls that burn to fast in one hit and are harsh. People will be amazed how good your stuff always tastes....especially if you tell them its a few months old, lol, they wont believe you.
