I seem unable to clone

I take all my clone trimmings from the bottom branchs, and then within like 8 hours the leaves are all limpless and pretty much dead, and i spray water on the leaves but they just die off, I use rootech cloning solution, and I have attempted cloning like 3 so far and all end up the same way. I dont understand what I am doing wrong

How big are the cuttings? How healthy are the mothers? Whats the waters PH your using? What medium are you using to clone with? Are you using a humidity dome? What are your temps? Lots of information you left out about how your trying to clone. The more details you give the better chance you have of someone being able to help you dial in on what the problem is so you can fix it.

Do you use a humidity dome? Only 3 clones were taken or 3 attempts. I usually take 12 cuttings if I am looking for 6. I have no problem rooting 95 percent of the clones with rootech. That is my choice of rooting gel. Olivia's Gel sucks ass but the liquid works great. Explain a little like what are the temperature, humidity, light, and what medium (rockwool, rapid rooters etc.)?

Edit: Bam beat me to it heh.

Sounds like you're using soil or other medium like that (rockwool, rapid rooters) and they are drying out on you. If you use soil or rockwool ect make sure they are watered BEFORE you stick your cutting in. Same thing if you use water as a medium and you transplant into dirt after they root, make sure your medium is watered so they don't dry up and die.

However that is just my educated guess, more info about what you're working with will allow me or others to help you with sure knowledge of what's going on.

Just build an auto cloner for less than 50bucks. I built one and i had 4" long really fuzzy roots in only 10 days. I did add some power clone and b-52. You dont even need a humidity dome and they never showed signs of stress or drooping. I just split the stem, follow the stink bud tek and you will never go back

Agreed! Easy as 1,2,3. 1) pick your cutting 2) cut 45* angle 3) stick in auto cloner. Or easy as 1,2,3,4 if you use cloning hormone

I use a DWC cloner with no rooting hormone, roots in usually 10-12 days.

You can also clone in a plain water bottle (how I use to do it!) Tape it with black tape, fill with water, stick 4 cuttings in and put a zip lock bag on top. I had %80 success rate!

Honeslty I don't see how people have trouble cloning, ITS SO EASY! I find it harder to water my plants.. now that's a pain in the ass!!! Going hydro after this harvest.

pH is only in concerns of nutrient take up, when cloning they don't need nutrients.

try water cloning. its pretty easy and no worrying about misting the clones or keeping them in a humidity dome.. here is one of the best guides on it ive ever seen. all credit goes to the original author.

As easy as cloning is to the masses that use powder, liquid/gel rooting hormone, bubblers and soil, etc. There is an even less complex method of cloning that is so easy, it must have been around for decades, if not centuries. The only ingredients involved are water, light, and the cutting you would like to root. In the example I?m going to show, I?ve cut three different sizes of clone. The first with two leaves and a single growing tip (S). The next has four nodes, but still only a couple large leaves (M). The third is 6? tall, has seven nodes and several sets of good-sized leaves (L).

As with normal cloning, you immediately dip the cutting in the water for about 15 to 30 seconds, tweaking it to dislodge any air bubbles that may be present. But the biggest difference is, you won?t be removing the cutting from the water until it has roots big enough to support the foliage above. Make sure the cup, which contains the cutting, is opaque. This prevents the light from shining directly on the roots.

So far, I?ve mentioned the cuttings and the water, but the most important part is the light. I have made this method work 100% of the time simply by sitting my cuttings on a windowsill that receives no direct sunlight. In fact, slightly shaded would be even better. In the evenings (short days), I sit them on an end table over 7 feet from a ceiling mounted 100-watt incandescent bulb. At bedtime, I just turn off the lights like normal, and when I get up in the AM its back to the windowsill. During the longer daylight hours they can be left on the sill full time. Remember, no direct sunlight.

The picture shows my three cuttings in their water cups. M & L have barely an inch of water to sit in. Any more and it would cover one of the leaf stems. The smaller one stayed in the plastic because the stem was too short to sit in water and stay upright in the cup. Do what?s necessary to keep at least ½? of the stem in the water.

Notice the glass that diffuses light, an extra measure against too much light exposure.

The clones grew roots at far different speeds. S showed in seven days, with a small ¼? long root and another small protrusion.

By the time S?s roots reached this level of development (nine days), L was just putting out the first nubs that would be roots. M has shown no inclination of rooting at all. Searching for an answer, I changed the water in Ms cup, but I think it boils down too the thickness of the stem. Both M&L have the same size stem but L has far more foliage on top.

S is doing far better than the others (seen below) and M is finally starting to show.

M showed roots in 14 days and was planted on day 18.
This picture was taken just before transplant.

L showed roots on day 11 and was in soil at day 18.
This picture was taken just before transplant.

S showed roots at seven days and was in the soil at 15.
This picture was taken just before transplant.

Just me but I think temps need to be around 80. I could have missed it but the cloner works best for me if temps are 81. 78-85 in soil. I've never did just water.

i just bought a knock off ez cloner for cheap. 25 site. big difference between rooting w/o one. the cuttings stay hydrated, rooted and are ready to plant in two weeks.

I have a homemade areocloner that has always worked great but this Grandaddy haze I'm doing now won't root no matter what method I use. It's driving me crazy. Everything is two weeks into flower so I'm gonna make a last ditch effort to get some cuts to root now that I have pulled the two males from the room.
