I tapped my plants too much, now they will not grow any taller, any suggestions?

I am growing three plants in my closet with a 400 W I power and G light for veg then high-pressure sodium for flower.(but I have not started my flouring it yet). According to the calendar it is time for me to start flowering. But my plants are only about 9 to 11 inches tall, but they are extremely bushy. If you look at it from the top down you cannot see the ground beneath it, if you look at it from the side you cannot see through it to the wall behind it. That is how much undergrowth there is. The nodes on the plants are only like a half inch away from each other, like I said very very Bushy. Will these plants grow any taller? I think I may have gone a little hey wire on the topping, should I continue to allow these plants two attempts to grow more in the vegetative states? Or should I stick to the Grow guide calendar and start them in the flowering process now? Please help

When a plant is in flower, they get a mad growth rush like they are on steroids and adrenaline. It depends on the strain, but your plant can be 2-3 times bigger if not more. Your bush plants are going to be really bushy. You need to make sure you have the room for them.

Did you start them from seed? I grow from seed and they take about a week/two to get into good vegetative growth after popping above the medium. Just more time you have to work into your schedule.

If you are not happy with the size, just keep it vegging. Growing a plant is a long process but a little extra veg time pays off.

Even if you force flower now, depending on genetics the plant could get about 2-3x taller.

Oh and topping stunts vertical growth for a little bit so I really wouldn't even worry especially if they are nice bushes.

this is the biggest/bushiest of the three. i am limited on vertical growth ( about three feet, but they have room to spread out ( which is why i did the topping in the first place).

i started from seed-
one last question, i am on a 20-4 hour light/dark schedule. to induce flowering i need to drop the light down to 12/12. do i do that gradually over a few days? or do i just turn it from 20 hours of light per day to o12 hours of light the next day?
