So, i decided to buy a light, it was a 400 watt mh /hps, but my closet got over 100 degrees, i think it was 105, so i took down that light and put up CFL lights, but even when i leave the door open and the fan on it is still 83-85 which seems bad . what im trying to ask here is whether 83-85 is too hot for a closet but let me know what you guys think/

Thanks guys,

85 is on the brinks for me(its not horrible but not optimal and anything past is bad). I like it to be a bit cooler then that during my day cycle ~79 then a bit of drop to ~70 at night. Timers have helped me out alot.

You're getting to the upper end of the range where hot is too hot. If you can stay under 85, you should be ok. You need an exhaust fan to vent the heat from your light out of your closet. You'll be ok after that.

i average 82 when my light is on and temps are average of 70 when lights are off. my plants dont seem to mind, no signs of dislike (wilting, drooping, ect.)

do u guys think a temperature of 85 will affect the potency or quality, or are there precautions to avoid a fire?

Can you run a can fan or something through your reflector? That can help shave off a few precious degrees. If you cannot do that, try aiming a small fan above your plants but under the light

at 85 it wont effect your plants noticeably, it wouldn't be the end of the world but get a small occilating desk fan in there on ur plants, and if you can an exhaust fan/intake on the walls
you could grow up-to 95 without chronic heat stress
when i first started my grow my cupboard was 30-35degrees Celsius and the plants showed 0 signs of heat stress or stunted growth
different strains will tolerate different temperature ranges

yes... definately too hot... my temps got around 85 for a couple weeks when i added my 3rd 600w light and my normally squatty sensi skunk plants streched out quite a bit... I installed a big energy effecient window unit and everything is back to normal {75 degrees}...

it may not effect potency or quality but lowwer temps always equals more dense, more compact, better looking buds...

the temp in my room is 70f, and the closet is still 85 and i got 2 fans, one 2ft by 2ft fan circulating air at the bottom, and a small desk fan placed 4 feet off of the ground circulating air above the plants. i hear 68 is optimal temp , i dont wanna have to cut a hole in my closet door to put ducts to suck hot air out, have any of u ever had this issue?
