Ideal cutting size

About to take some cuttings from my plant while I lollipop.
What is the ideal size for cuttings? I’ve heard small cuttings usually take longer to root, I’m just looking for a general range.

More specific question. When choosing where to take your cutting from do you go for the ends of young branches or the ends of thinker branches that are shaded out?
