If heat & Ventalation is a problem...

Ok, i've read pretty much the same thing from everyone about lighting...if you want serious results then get serious lights...hps or mh lights...but, if heat and venalation is problem since it would be in a closet with the door closed for stealth, my question is, could you up the amount of cfl's and get great results? say 2 200watt cfls? 2-4 compact floros...or do cfl's just not the amount of light hps and mh's do? do metal halide put off a lot of heat? i apologize up front if this question has been asked a ton but any help and advice would be appreciated...thx

From what I can tell you could put CFLs EVERYWHERE and not really burn much of anything. My strain doesn't even care if they touch the "cool white bulbs" for hours or days.

Will it yield as much? I don't know, but I respect the elders and I think it probably yields less. But the real question is how much can your grow area yield?

If it's a small area with poor ventilation options...perhaps it's better to just pepper a crap ton of CFLs all over the place and do what you can.

If you absolutely have to grow in a closet with the door shut, then you must use cfl's. From what I hear you can still get great results with cfls (I am using HID lights). You need to pay attention to lumen output per cfl that you use. You want about 7000 lumens per square foot of grow area. Check out Major Toke's grow journal (he has a pic of snoop dog as his avatar). He is growing one plant with 6 42 watt cfls. I think his results have been really good.
Also, use mylar to line the inside walls of the closet with to maximize the use of the light.

if the plant touches a cfl it will burn it, yes you can get them really close but they will still burn the shit they touch, if i were you i would section off the part of the closet you are growing in with black plastic or something and then use some dryer hose to vent to the other side, that way you could be light proof and still use an hps, if your only using one light an hps is the way to go, yeah you can grow shit with cfl lights but holy shit those guys have them everywhere, i keep seeing pics where they are using 400 plus watts of cfl and not getting the yield they would with an hps, check out the green man on youtube and you will see what i mean about the plastic sectioning off the room
