Hey, I have some money coming in and was wondering how to go about setting up my room. I have about 6- 8 thousand usd and was dont really know what I want to do. I was thinking just starting my room with 6 plants doing scrogg with 1000 watt hps per plant veg with 3 or 4 600 watt metal idk if thats over kill or not just looking for advice.
If you had 6000 - 8000 usd to grow your 12 medical marihuana plants what would you do

Depends on what type of system you're going to run. If you're just going to do a hydro system with 2 gallon buckets I would put at least 4 under each light. If you're not using big pots just having one under each light is a waste.

for 12 plants? go through people's grow journals... look at their setup. you don't need to spend that much to get it going...

Throwing that much money at something doesn't mean its fool proof.
I guess one major factor is what do you want to achieve?
Enough smoke for yourself?
Enough to sell to dispensaries etc?
This is ultimate deciding factor in how big you need to go.

$100 - duck tape , staples, staple gun and couple extention cords for fans
$35 - 2x3 peices of wood
lighting -
$1000 - 4 1kw setups cooled
$150 - 6" ducting and 2 " inline fans
$150 - 8 light controller(newegg.com, in case you wanna upgrade later)
$15 - 120v timer
cooling -
$200 - 2 window ac (12k btu each, one per side of room)
$90 - 2 wall fans(16" atleast)
electrical -
$100 - 8guage wire and 50 amp, 220v into controller
$50 - 12 guage wire (100ft)
$25 - 3, 15amp breakers an outlets
gowing medium -
$1100 - 2 ebb n flow systems with 12 pot sites
$300 - blue lab guardian (ph,ppm all in one)
$30 - 2 air bubblers and 4 air stones for reservoirs
$200 - whatever rocks/medium you fill buckets with
veg room -
$125 - 6x6 tent
$350 - 2, 8bulb t5 lights
$50 - 6" inline fan always sucking out room an no humidity probs an 70s heat.
nutes -
$450 - i use lucas formula but for $450 use whatever you like.
room layout -
6 plants one side with scrog net over and 6 plants on other side with scrog net. 2 lights above each 6 plants with inline fan cooling them. one window ac above each 6 plants on each corner then on other side of wall put a oscilating fan on each wall... flower for 8 weeks, veg for 4 weeks. move 6 plants every 4 weeks to harvest 6 plants a month. get 2 lb a month minimum.
save rest of money until next harvest and get minisplit ac and add co2 and 2 lights more to the room so 3 lb off 6 plants in scrog.

I wouldn't go HID, but that's me. Just because you got a paycheck now, doesn't mean you want to ante up every month in electrical bills.
If you haven't ever grown before, a basic nutrient rich soil will be the most fool-proof, but Coco or Hydro would be the direction I'd go.
How much space do you have? Is it a medical grow? Do you have the time to put into 12x plants?
If you have the headroom (7-8ft), and want to run HID's, 3-4plants under a 600 can produce serious numbers. I've seen more than one good grower with a 600 outperform an average grower with a 1000, many times.
You have options...
3x IndaGrow pro420PAR (induction) lamps would pull about the same as 2x 600W HID's, but combined put out less than half the heat (ballast and bulb BTU's), would be more than plenty for 12 plants, and will last a LOT longer than an HID bulb (100K hrs vs 10K hrs).
LED I would look at California Light Works, Area 51, Black Dog, Apache Tech, or Astir's.
Do you know your kWh rates? That might help you make a decision.

Yea its a medical grow in michigan. I have a few options as to where I would like to put it ie garage, basement, kick out my roommate and use his room
. Electricity is .15 per kwh which would put the 6 1000w hps with a few mh and air conditioning at about 850 a month, which is doable for me, not everyone in Michigan has a shitty job lol.lol exatcly what i wanted itemized lists ... funnnn

CCH2O UC4XL13 with 2 1000w Hps. LST, supercrop it, scrog it and get 1gram a watt if done right. check out growers corner on you tube hygrohybrid for the best canopys i"ve seen. the uc systems run around 1,000$ but with 13 gallon pots and recirculating current and and alot of oxygen its dwc on roids. And research,research,research.
