If you were growing 6 plants under 400w hps.........

In DWC (northern lights), what do you think is reasonable in terms of dry bud yield?

I ask because I am new to hps lighting. I've heard .5oz - 1.0 oz per plant, but that seems low to me.

I've also heard 3-4 oz per plant, which seems high.

I use good nutes and do things conscientiously, what do you think?

ps I know the yield is what it is, and I'm not trying to count chickens before they hatch. I just want a benchmark to judge how well the grow went.

6 plants under a 400, Im going to say (based on a 4 week veg) You'll probably pull 2.5 to 3 oz's a plant (if your lucky).... I would of had 2 400 watters for 6 plants.. Just seems to me they would be majorly crowded to fit under 400 watts..

The big factor is how big you let them get before you sent them into bloom. I would assume under 400w you didn't let them get too big. I would say an ounce to an ounce and a half per plant. I grow 6 under 600w hps. On my smallest grows (sending into bloom when plant is maybe a foot tall) I will get an ounce+ per plant. on my big grows (letting my plants get 2-3 ft tall before sending into bloom) I can get 3-4 oz per plant.

I did a 4 plant grow under 400w hps in soil which finished last month, and I averaged just under 2 oz per plant.

This raises another question - how much space yould you cover with a 400w hps? Mine is about 2.5 ft square.

With 6 plants I would grow them to somewhere between 3 and 4 feet at maturity. Northern Lights doesn't get much taller anyway. 6 plants that size in that space would crowd each other, but I was thinking of doing some trimming and going for larger tops.

i think thats supposed to be .5 - 1 gram a watt is the range where you have done average all the way up to good and great would be over 1g a watt...

this means that you should get around 14.3 OZ out of the 6 plants so that makes it about 2.4 OZ per plant to do in the good range...

but then again there are vegetative time factors that are also involved in the maturation of plant in order to truly get the largest yields for lack of space as well...

Climbing out on a limb here but willing to take the flames for it . nobody in there right mind can expect to get 1 gram per watt on their first grow . The bottom line is it's just a plant it's pretty simple you get out what you put in . nothing more but could be less if you don't watch for bugs and such . my first grow went off without a hitch " I think " . I had 1600 watts of hps but got nowhere new watt per gram yeild . my patients are happy with quality and i expect to learn from it and veg longer . Also going to some kind of scrog method to get the most out of my lights . But what others in the thread have said is what i have heard as well 1-4 oz indoor on two week veg seems ok .

I have to agree with you about the 1 gram per watt, that's total bs. I've been doing this for 5 years and have a pretty good foundation for growing and If I get a 1/2 gram per watt im extremely happy...

well some strains are low yielders as such that only produce 150 g/m^2 but seeing how a meter squared is a 3x3 area and you can fit about 4 large plants or you can fit 6 small plants and at the 4 plant rate of 150g/4plants= 37.5g/plant at 5.35 OZ total yield of 1.33 OZ per plant...

try only getting plants with genetics that have closer to 300 g/m^2... as the genetics itself just doubled your little 1.33 OZ up to now 2.66 OZ per plant ;)

It's a good point about space being a limiting factor in yield. I'm pretty sure in my 2.5' x 2.5' space I will never reach 1g/watt. Maybe if I was in 3 x3 or 4 x 4 I would have a chance, but you can only fit so much plant into so much space. I can get .5g/watt in my space without too much work, and I think I'll be able to get to .75g/watt with some tweeking, but I really don't think I can get over 11 oz dried in my space. I'm happy to pull in a half pound every couple months.

seeing a lot of random guesses here, and the amount of bud im seeing in everyones guesses reflects that of soil. if your doing dwc, thats a major factor which will up your yiueld, but the biggest factor in this is veg time and mainly the size of your buckets, which are prob 5 gallon, so your root mass will be big, but not the biggest, so if you veg for 30 days, with a top or 2 and some heavy lst with some scrog, i would hope to get well over a qp, possibly 100-175grams dried per plant, you would prolly get around 100 per plant with the 400 watt light, i think my answer hewre maybe a lil biased, but i think its a damn good one

How much lst are you talking? Because my next grow is going to be dwc-400 watt hps-scrog... Didn't think of lst
