I'm a bonehead....accidentally burned with 400 HPS

I wouldn't be surprised if no one else pulled this bonehead maneuver, but I accidentally burned the leaves on my plants. I started flowering three of my larger plants in an Aerogarden, and decided to get a better yield by switching the lights to a 400 watt HPS.

I suspended the light about 6 inches from the top of the leaves. What a big mistake, a lot of the leaves started curling up and drying up almost immediately. I turned off the HPS light and also the lamp hood of the AG, which I had stood up on its side by the plants so that they could also get some side lighting. I let the leaves cool down for a little bit and then left the AG side lights off and re-suspended the HPS about 30 inches or so above the tops of the leaves. Hopefully, my plants will recover, but I'm guessing the dried up leaves will probably just fall off.

Before I bought the HPS light, I had used a 250 watt HWL light (it's German; don't know what it stands for, but it didn't require a ballast). And the leaves looked great and were stretching upwards. But now with the HPS light, the leaves all look like they are drooping down. Maybe it was the stress of getting burned initially for a few minutes, but I dont' know.

So, do you think my babies are gonna survive? They look okay otherwise.

Yeah, bonehead move- but you learned your lesson.

As stated earlier on the forums by Korvette... Please be careful to not burn the aerogarden hood as it is plastic, and therefore very sensitive to heat, especially from a 400wHPS
