I'm a newb looking for a critique of my planned grow room

The title says it all. I'm on a budget so i have limited funds to create my room so I'd like some feedback on my potential design and the products I"ll be investing in prior to starting. I"ll be posting Amazon.com links to the equipment just in case I screw up on the specs I post here; if you can tell me where to find this stuff cheaper or have any issues with purchase of these items from Amazon please let me know.

I have a closet in an unused bedroom of my home that is 2.5' x 4' x 8', the room it is in has two windows that are easily sealed against light penetration (they are small and both will never see direct light from the sun; I intend on installing door sweeps as well (on the bedroom door and closet door, just in case). I intend on wallpapering the entire interior of the closet and door with 2mil Mylar sheeting using a nontoxic/biodegradable high temp spray adhesive designed for use on heating systems. I know I'm best off making sure that the Mylar doesn't crinkle in order for it to be most effective

For lighting I intend on using several types throughout the vegetative growth portion:

Compact fluorescent bulbs (they are cheap and I have plenty of wall mountable lamps on hand)

2- Mr. Light 88671 14 watt linkable (24") T5 grow light fixtures that I intend on mounting vertically on opposite corners of the room (18"-42" off the floor) for "fill in light"

1- iPower 600 watt MH grow light system with air cooled tube and adjustable digital ballast, it also comes with a 600 watt high pressure sodium bulb for blooming and a timer to boot
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0076RDRUK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AXC6VLRHTOFD2

My intended fan is a 6" 240 cfm inline fan and a Ventech 6" x 20" charcoal filter
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005KMLHC8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2WRS4X4C0GMOQ
the fan will exhaust into an unused, well vented attic area of my home (that happens to be pretty well insulated and my attic has an exhaust fan of its own to keep temperatures down)

I'm not sure if I should try using earth as a substrate or they going hydroponic out of the gate, I know I can easily fit two General Hydroponics Individual Waterfarms and substrate into my budget but I don't know if they will make the process easier at first. I've spent a fair amount of time in my life gardening outdoors and this will be my first indoor grow of any kind, I can't help but wonder if growing in soil will be easier.

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I'll be starting off with clones, I have a source of Northern Lights and Sour Diesel from an acquaintance that has been growing some really nice reefer for a while.

you may need to increase to 2 240 cfm inline that is what i have found anyway if space is available. ipower is great so far love mine same one prolly mine is mh hps. I would say imo you can use what ever you want for medium soil is easier to keep space wise, considering container tubes etc etc. would love to keep clones going seems easier then beans...done both clones save headachs.

cant wait to see it in action will subscrible this

Everything looks good to me, but I would skip on that 14 watt "grow light" I've bought a few and they were always disappointing, even in use with other lights. I felt like I was wasting an outlet on a glow stick. It might be argued that I can't see the added lumens, but I ran plants with and without them and never noticed a difference.

I would get also the this fan instead:
http://www.canfilters.com/max_fan_6.html
It costs a little more, but it's much more powerful and it has 3 speed settings in case you can't afford a speed-controller right now.
It's what I use under 800 watts of MH and HPS with air-cooled hoods and I haven't had to use speed 2 or 3 yet. Though summer is steady approaching lol.

As far as medium, I would go with what you're comfortable with first. That way you can get familiar with how cannabis grows before you start exploring methods that might compromise your first harvest and scare you away from growing indoors. But whatever you do i have experience with both so if you have any more questions post away and I'll try to help.

I heard those iPower lights were originally designed by Nikola Tesla. I'm definitely interested in seeing how they perform.

I don't see a feature known as rf shielding on the ballast . some ballasts put out rf interference and can be detected very easily. in some cases the ballast interrupts the neighborhood cable tv/internet.

I noticed that as well, I ended up not going the iPower route because of it. I picked up an Extrasun 600w ballast, a 6" Lumii hood and a Hortilux 600 watt Super HPS bulb for lighting; my heat/odor control is a 6" (400 cfm) centifugal fan and a 6 x 12 Phat filter.

I'll post pics a bit later, but I'm ready to rock and roll.
