Im a Newbie and Need Advice

Ok so im new to the game but ive done plenty of research right now im in the final stages of hooking my grow closet up so i can order the seeds but so far i have,fox farm ocean forest soil,fox farm's tiger bloom,a 400 watt hps ballast and a cooltube/reflector and some minor equipment do you think this is good for growing some blue hash and some violator kush

You could do with some more if you have the money.
A HPS bulb will get you through a grow easily but it's been proven that MH are just better for the vegetative stage period. They're better at growing leaves and grow tighter nodes too. If you can get a conversion MH bulb,
Tiger Bloom is a bloom fertilizer. It's used in flower not really for veg. The nutrient ratios are off for vegetative (leafy green) growth. If your gonna go with Fox Farm get a bottle of Grow Big for veg and you might as well get a bottle of Big Bloom too to complete their base three-part fertilizer system.
Here's a feed chart showing when and how to feed and it shows they're entire soil system product line. If your gonna do it might as well go for it right?

You might as well buy some neem oil now for the mites and buggies. Fox Farm has a bad reputation for having too many bugs in their soil. The best way to use ocean forest is to mix it with their Light Warrior soil so you get the right mixture because then either one alone has an optimal mix of beneficial bacteria, humic acids and nutrient ratios. If I were you I would go to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy a bag of perlite and mix it with the soil either way cause FF is a little thick (not the best drainage).
If your gonna use fox farm soil you should amend it with a little but of dolomite lime. They started using oyster shells for pH buffering but it's not as good as lime.
400 watts isn't realy powerful but it's still a big light. How are you planning on taking care of the heat issue if your growing in a closet. Don't underestimate heat control. If your growing in a closet it's almost a guarantee that it's gonna get too hot in there without a blower of some kind. I know you said you have a cool tube but without a blower it's kind of meaningless.
You couldn't go wrong with mylar.
How are you gonna control smell later? Do you have a carbon filter?
Azamax is another good product for controlling spider mites.
I don't feed without a pH/ppm meter anymore.

im gunna have three fans blowing in the closet for extra circulation i dont have a carbon filter but only because my room naturally smells like weed every day i went with plain white paint i also stopped at my local hydro farm and they said i dont have to use a conversion bulb they said i can use a normal mh bulb the conversions are just a money scam thanks for all the help beastly i would also give up rep if i knew how 2

for a cheap veg light check out the light in my signature below....works like a champ with great coverage and cheap to make

i would atleast get ph drops but a digital pen goes a long way and will save you a lot of time and frustration.

What is your ventilation like? ventilation is one of the most important things to consider. cooling? have you tested the light in the closet with a thermometer for a few hours to see the heat?

Just an FYI, there is a HUGE difference between the smell of smoking and growing it.
