im a newbie. help please!

hello. im new at this and just started growing a couple days ago. this is my first grow and have many things on my mind about how this is going to work out. ive done quite a lot of researching but still havent found what im looking for. now, my plants have only a 3/4 in. spread so far. i am putting them outside durring the day for sunlight and inside at night. this will only continue until they are ready to be put outside permanently. how long until that will be? i was also wondering how much light should i be giving them and when should i start 12/12? i know to start 12/12 durring flowering but that is my other question... how long does it take to start flowering? that is all for now. i am sure i will have many more questions later but all answers and suggestions will be highly appreciated.. thank you.

typically the more light the better. i dont think there can ever be enough light. also... if you are going to put them outside permanently. how are you going to control the light? just a thought.
