Whats up fellow RIU members. Figured I'd introduce myself and tell you a few things about me.
Born and raised in Alaska, been here all 30 years of my life. Only been out of state for about a month total including hawaii, mexico, florida, vegas, and lake havasu. I started hunting at age 10, shot my first moose at age 11. Been fishing since age 7-8, first time being on skilak lake, which is in the middle of upper and lower kenai rivers. I spent all of this summer, going camping/fishing every weekend while I could!! Dipnetting is a must. Can't argue with scooping fish after fish after fish out of the water with a net. My legal limit was 25 for head of household, and another 10 fish per head in the household. Needless to say, I have all the candy salmon, smoked salmon, salmon dip, etc you would never need for a winter lol
Been just about everywhere in Alaska, often visiting Canada (the taylor highway is an AMAZING drive). Taylor highway is closed during the winter months and is the northern route from Tok, AK to Dawson. The southern route (open in winter), is about 2x the distance. If your ever in Alaska, make that drive, you'll see scenery that even a 30 year resident of Alaska can appreciate.
I'm a blue collar type of worker. Hard work ethic with a lot of trade skills under my belt such as working on cars, buildings, or whatever one must build or fix. I work to support my family and being 30 now, have finally lost the desire to be... well, what most people in their 20's want. everything. I've simplified things back to home. Family life is a much more fulfilling thing than running around, trying to be the guy with a chevy truck with big rims, be a player in the club, etc. You get tired of that shit. I never really thought I would, but... I cannot stand the bar scene or clubs anymore. I do my daily thing, toke on my pipe, and relax at home, pretending I'm in early retirement
In my off time, I enjoy snowmachines (they call them snowmachines here, not snowmobiles. We know they are the same thing, ja ja), boating, hiking, fishing, guns, women, tattoos, money, motorcycles, and anything else that goes boom or has horsepower. When I'm sick of the outdoors, you can find me playing shoot em up games, or more recently, I started playing "league of legends" which is a pretty fun computer game.
Well, can't really think of much more to put, I'm sure a bunch of you have questions about Alaska, so, feel free, ask away! I'm open to discussion!
