it burns the inside of my sinuses. dude is suggesting 10 truck loads for the size area i have. i found the sawdust/horseshit for free and there is an unlimited supply. the other small load is cow/chicken/goat manure with straw that has been composted for a year. dude started digging into the pile and his tractor kept getting stuck. that was all he could dig out for me for now. he said in 2 weeks i can get more.

and some aloe plants from my dads yard. he dug some up so i can rub it on my burns. :blsmoke:

i heard that wood chips are bad, straw is good.
i was worried about that as well. it's fir shavings, not pine, so i don't think it's as bad as it could be. i'm not sure how much i'll actually throw down. at this what i have now, i doubt i'll go back for 9 more loads. i see a lot of people using it and a lot of people giving it away. i'll try a little and see how it works for me.

looks like fir is good, .... :) http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/1637/

Not only do fir shavings decay much faster than cedar shavings, but they have no growth inhibitors. If your horse barn uses cedar, ask them to try out fir shavings. Fir shavings are cheaper and the end result is much easier to get rid of.
