ok. so hears the deal i checked my ph a week ago and found it was at 7 even.

even though most of the plants didnt seem to be bothered by the ph i still wanted to get it down to 6 or 6.5 (somewhere in there) so i picked up some ph down.

i decided to check the ph of my water before using it on my plants...after letting the water sit out 24 hrs the ph of the water ranged from 6.5-7 in each container....like it always is.

so i assumed i should lower it below that to help lower the overal ph of the soil...

i ph'd the water down to 5 even...gave water to the plants...

checked the ph an hr later and every pot was 6.1-6.5

i check the ph today: right back at 7 even!

wtf is wrong with me or is this not normal?

help plz?

background info:
soil: ff ocean forest
nutes: tiger bloom, grow big, big bloom
strain: paradise seeds white berry
age: day 35 flowering (will be ready at day 50-55)

i decided to check ph because i noticed what looked like a calcium deficency on 2 of the plants and figured ph may be the problem (as ive always used this soil/nutes without a problem before and never a calcium issue).

so any help would be greatly appreciated. btw my ph meter is a 3 pronged style meter that is meant to be shoved down into the soil.

I've heard those can be inaccurate. Maybe it's not calibrated and giving you off readings? FFOF is supposed to be pH balanced around 6.5 out of the bag, I think.

Are you still using nutrients? If so stop and try lowering your ph down to one or as low as you can for the next couple of waterings. I have never lowered ph that far so you should make sure that wont hurt your girls before you do anything.

Agreed. Those things are by no means accurate. You need to get a pH water kit. A small bottle I believe is less than $4.

Are you using well water by any chance?

what do you suggest as being a better option?

it may be off but the readings were different for each pot usually...bout a .1-.3 difference between them.

it looked like i did a great job after i gave the ph down (as the ph was lower) but for some reason it shot back up today for all of them. all i gave yesterday was plain/pure water ph'd down to 5...no nutes...nothing...they were given nothing today and they still came back up to 7. is the possible? or is it my meteR? or something worse?

the plants overall do look good. the spots on some of the leaves (that appear to be a cal issue) are only showing up on 2 plants and only a handful of leaves on each are effected...the rest of the plant looks healthy...in fact these things are getting frosty already...i was highly impressed with the amount of trichs on these things...best looking plants ive grown overall...TONS of resin...so the growth/budding doesnt seem to be effected by the leaves w/ spots but im not sure whats the issue (always been told not to look into other issues w/ a plant until the ph is correct and thats what im trying to do)

i have been using nutes however ive followed the fox farm feeding schedule EXACTLY (as ive always done without problems). the few days after they get nutes isnt when they showed the problem...it was after a pure-water watering...so thats what confused me...i did foliar feed spinosad awhile back but that always was given to them at lights out (so its not burned in mist...i havent given spinosad in 2 weeks). so yea...

ph water kit? where could one be found? hydro store?

im not using well water...its right out of the tap but its always let to sit out for 24hrs (or more) before its given to the plants
