I am just starting out I have an understanding of Gardening, but have never grown any indoor plants I have 2 4 ft shoplites with 2 plantgrow bulbs each (40 watts) for a total of 160 watts. I have sprouted my seeds and planted them in jiffy pots with miracle grow potting soil. what next , how long will it take to get buds from sprouting to maturity? I will only grow about 6 plants I have a large attic will it do for a growroom?

the shoplight will due until the plants about 12"-16" in height. after this you will need stronger lighting (HID). typically you will want to veg for 30-60 days and flowering usually takes around 45-70 days. so from seedling to maturity youre looking at 3.5-4 months. thats why most of us stick to cloning. attic are difficult to grow in. unless you seal them off and insulate your grow space, they can be hard to control. they get wayyy too hot in summer and too cold in the winter.

By hid do you mean high pressure sodium or metal halide

metal halide is more fore vegging. for sweet buds you want a 400-600 watt hps lamp
