...when handling perlite. I was mixing up some of my mix earlier and I just got a bad nose bleed, and I never get nose bleeds.

I don't want to worry you but I've never heard about Perlite causing nose bleeds.
Get yourself checked out, just in case, it's something else.
It could be something irritating your nasal membrane
or it could be the first symptoms of a cerebral aneurism.
Let a doctor shine a light up your snozzle, just to be sure.
