mush in the middle is bud rot, thats what happens to the plant while it is still growing , the bud rot starts in the center of a cola
it turns the cola to mush in the middle if you squeeze it will completly flatten to a black/grey mush inside the bud
the outside of the bud can look normal
the first signs of bud rot are normally a small dead single leaf or leaf blade poking out of the cola, the leaf looks very dry crispy and yellow, these dead leaves have a specific look to them you look inside the cola that the dead leaf connects to and its likely you will find bud rot
if you did not notice this when growing, and dried the bud that has bud rot inside it will taste harsh, you will be able to see the discolaration inside the bud it will look black/grey
it will not be mushy anymore since it is dry it will smell damp, kind of like a mushroom
it will not smell nothing like mold that happens when you chop it down and dry it too slowly this will totally stink like ammonia and you will see white fluff growing on the bud
you say you cant smell ammonia thats very good news m8, i left some weed in a plastic bag once years ago i forgot about it, 5 oz totally ruined it stank of ammonia lol
and i could just see the fluff starting to form, so i guess the order is ammonia smell first then the fluffy mold comes, this ammonia you can smell it through every single bud
the buds can look normal, but the flavor and smell is fucked
peace
