Immediately flowering after cloning

I was thinking about cloning and flowering and was wondering if I get some clones and wait till they root and then put them into flowering, the plants are said to grow a lot. Do they grow as in stretching or do they produce more nodes? Because it's not really worth it to flower a tiny little clone if it's not gonna produce more nodes.
