Immigration enforcement vs. Corporate responsiblity

Let me start by saying that I have no problem with people immigrating to America LEGALLY!!! However, I think our government ( regardless of party in power ) has really dropped the ball on this issue. If those HIRING illegals, were fined heavily, there woiuld be less incentive to hire illegals, and therefore more incentive to be here legally. What does everyone else think?

Divided responsibility means "No Responsibility". It is soley the Federal Governments job to control immigration. No one else should be held responsible for illegal immigration other than Uncle Sam. Punishing Corporations only passes the buck.

Lets take it to it's logical extreme...fine McDonald's for selling hamburgers to illegal immigrants. Lets make McDonald's responsible for checking the immigration status of their customers. Why not?

Our government loves war(terror, drugs, etc) and illegal immigrants....

Sorry rabbogart, but as long as corporate America's greed encourages illegals to come to America, I feel they should be held responsible. Lets ask the all important question of why do American companies hire illegals? Lets see:

#1. They pay illegals substandard wages to perform work which can be described as unpleasant at best.

#2 They pay these illegals under the table, thus avoiding paying any taxes for these laborers.

#3. No need to pay workman's comp insurance on workers they aren't going to declare anyways, not that many illegals would even know they have the right to compensation if injured on the job.

#4. If one illegal gets used up and spent from the rigors of the work they have to perform, you can always find another.

So, not only does corporate America encourage illegals, they are directly responsible for them being here at all. In these economic bad times, just like after the great depression, there are plenty of Americans who would jump at the chance to have these jobs. But, for the reasons I stated above, they are not even available to Americans. So I say again we need to make the greed mongers pay for their exploitations, and give those jobs only to Americans, and those who are here legally.
