Important question about yield?

They are not realy side branches. I topped the first top node at the beginning, let two new ones grow a bit instead and topped each new one again, then I repeated it for each new top node 1-2 more times. So I have from 8 to 16 tops on each plant.
Well thats not a scrog lol just because ya use a trellis dosnt make it a scrog. Toping at the first second and third nodes is a mainline a tops. Thought about toping at the 4th but never have regular mainline takes long enough. The vid is one way of doing it. I dont use cages or any lst just extra shit in my way when i want to feed. I supercrop for the training and trellis for support.

I bet the guy who made the video has never done it. Or probably done any growing. I stoped a min in as soon as he said never top before the plant is 5 nodes high ot it will damage it so bad it may not recover. I have toped every seedling i sprout at the first node for years and have never lost one.

No I did not mean topping at some nodes. I always top only the top ones. I use scrog net just for leveling purpose putting the longer ones under it so the shortest can catch up with them.

And the video is not about what I have done, it was just an answer to wtf is mainlining.

I know what your doing. Almost the same as me you just top one more time than me and my trellis is strictly for support. I super crop to keep em level.

hey everyone hope everybody is alright!

I just finished my 2nd grow ever which were autoflowers now Im going with photoperiods Iv just ordered the blue gelato 41 seeds by barneys farm and got a lot of freebies which equaled 14 seeds in total I would like to get the maximum yield possible and thought the (Sea of Green) method would be the best combined with lst to get the most out of my grow my goal is yield with decent/good quality which method/way do you guys think I should use on this upcoming grow.?

Btw I have a 4x4 grow tent , with a yield master hood using a 600 watts bulb
Now should I do 10-14 plants in 1 gallon square pots veg for a little then switch to floor and start lst-ing ??? Or use bigger pots and fewer plants? And will upgrading to a 1000 watts bulb make a significant difference? Thanks guys!
That's great!!

So what would you do if you were me brother?
I would look for a used light-rail (they have a super long lifespan so I wouldn't buy an expensive new light mover) and use it with a 600w hps (Double-ended fixtures are the most efficient.).
That means less power consumption because of the bulb and also because you will have less heat to pump out with your extractor.

Then I would either do a SOG with one buds (It saves a lot of time but it highers the plant count). If you can only grow a limited number of plants, I would supercrop or top-off 4 to 6 plants.

Hope this helps!

It was just easier for me as I have some type of a net already.

Here is picture my cabinet with 6 plants under scrog and one on the right side that is not under it. That one was one extra plant that did not fit into my previous setup with a tent so I kept it outdoor. After I moved my setup to the cabinet under stairs there was some place for it so I decided to keep it with all other plants and not risk of it being noticed from behind my fence.

There is a Viparspectra PAR1200 in the middle but it is not shown on the picture as it is much higher than two 600W Viparspectra shown on each side.

Mainline is awesome but probably not an ideal for a new grower. (I top and super crop and have Scrog'd). But really it all depends on your goals and timelines. Sow to harvest is a fairly long time, If you learn cloning then this shortens the process by a fair margin and gives a better yield.
Do what your comfortable with and experiment on each plant a different style. 9 FEMALE plants under a 4 x 4 under a 600W is fine, so don't be afraid to throw a few more in there (you can always throw the males and the runts out).

Learn to clone. It will save you allot of money, you will yield more and better product and you will yield more often.

I would love to get to cloning but it is not easy in countries where growing is illegal. In such a places you just want to do one cycle as fast as you can and put all hardware in boxes. I guess if you start cloning you need to have at least two spaces and your cycles become longer.

You do need two spacers, but your cycles become much shorter and your yields and product becomes better and more consistent..
The day you put your vegging plants into flower you take cuttings. You then place these cuttings into veg. This means that when you harvest the flowering plants you have vegging plants ready to go straight into the flower room (which you clone again). Cloned plants are already sexually mature, generally flower faster, you can pick the best ones and you get to know what they like and don't like- meaning you grow them better..

Its illegal were I am to, it depends on the risk you want to take and the penalties in ur country.

I am in Australia, so nobody will shoot me for that but I am an old guy with two small kids Even going through a court with a fine is not really what you want at this age.
It is not a problem when there is no strangers in my house but house stuff breaks and you need someone to come and fix it. That's where it starts getting funny especially in an old house where stuff brakes quite often.
