Improperly Stored Coco

I was gifted some coco that was expanded (botinicare brick) properly with a 1/4 nute solution. The only problem is that the guy stored it in a tupperware container with the lid on for a couple months. I'm afraid there might be some kind of root killing disease that may have formed inside since the coco wasn't 100% dry.

Is there anything to worry about? Is there any way i can kill any harmful things in the coco (don't suggest baking - i don't have an extra oven to stink up for months)?

hit it with bleach mixed at tsp/gallon of water, then spread it out to let it dry.

1 tsp/gallon? Anyone else back this up?

Just give it a good flush. You'll be alright

If it smells like mold then it's got mold. If it smells just a little funky, then dry it out, (the scent will go away),,, then rinse with a 10ml/gal cal/mag water. Brick coco needs cal/mag not nutes when expanding.

I use 1tsp per gallon on live plants to treat root rot, which is at the top end of what you can use before you damage your plants. The chlorine in bleach will evaporate in a day or so you are alright, even if you are worried about it.It will kill all the pathogens in your coco.. If you want to use a product made for plants then look in DM zone, its basically the same thing but with more stable chlorine so it wont evaporate from you system.

Good advice, if its fresh coco it will take all the Mg till its "full" so you will get early Mg problems if you dont do this.
