Improve Bud Flavor?

is it true that when plants are in flower that to keep them a bit away from the light and to maybe add a mh bulb or just use a full spectrum bulb will increase the berry/fruity flavours for example. been doing some reading on this and was wondering would it be worth while giving this a go on my next flowering cycle.

but, i know this, i got a 600 hps, keep it close, my strains have low smell and taste.

friend, growing same strain, under 150 and fluo, smells up the neighborhood.

i got bigger buds though and i dont mind the lack of smell (illegal here)(he was quite paranoid for a week)

The light has nothing to do with the smell or flavors. If you want good smelling and good flavor, then find a good strain and use some good nutes. For example, Botaincare makes a nutrient called Sweet. They have a Raw Sweet,Citrus,Grape,Berry Flavors, this would be something to consider. Hope this helps a little.

ive been doing a lot of reading on this and some breeders state that due to lights being too close(and we all get them close as poss) this can make berry weed for example smell and taste more lemony, also i read that adding full spectrum of light can improve the taste aswell, the flavoured stuff is well worth looking into alright thanks kush!.
i know some people on here do use the full spectrum bulbs so i just wondered if any of them have noticed the taste of the weed being stronger, i cant seem to find too much on this so just looking for anyones opinions.

I think that the place you'll gain the full/best taste is by curing and storing for long time.
Don't know about the lightings, but seems like whatever the result of your questions will be it won't be worth the labour.
But for nerdy interest i'd like to hear the scientific reason.
One thing, that i can think of is that when you keep the plants very close to the lights maybe some of the essential oils will vapor from the plant from the heat/light? - don't know, but i know that when i put my plant into drowning 10 days prior to harvest - i put the plant a bit in the back, so it doesn't get as close to the lamp (for practical reasons) After 10 days the plant's smell has increased a lot.

this is the paragraph i was reading, its from the culture ,magazine. of course its only one editors opinion but i wondered if it had merit in anyones growing conditions, thanks for the replies. brimi i think when you moved the plant away from direct light you gave the plant a chance to smell/taste better.
aromatics and flavours
Many indoor growers try to get their budding plants as close to the light source as possible. Though this may increase bulk production of both bud and trichome, I find that this practice tends to destroy many of the finer aromatic qualities of the herb.

Buds too close to the light tend to express nothing beyond the lower lemon/lime aromas of the fruity spectrum. Sometimes the aroma is no better than a strong chemical/astringent odor and flavor, especially those under High Pressure Sodium light systems. The finer berry flavors tend to favor more distance from the bulb, and will manifest more strongly under High Ultraviolet Metal Halide light systems, especially during the latter stages of flowering.

Something akin to a gymnasium building with high ceilings and super 5000W lights hung far from the growing plants, set at a Sativa-tweaked photoperiod, would be the ultimate indoor grow-op to coax Sativa phenotypes.
