in a pot or straight in the ground?

if i'm growing purely outside, should i start in a pot and then move them to the ground, or can i put the germed seed straight into the ground? maybe put a little topsoil in the ground, drop it in that?

everything i've read says that growing in the ground allows for more root space, better and more healthy plants. plus, i'm growing in a really healthy field near a pond, many hours of sunlight and probably decent soil.

It would depend on where you are and what type of soil you have there. say in the northeast US it is mostly clay soil where the roots cant penetrate or breath because its such a high energy fast growing plant. if you live in an area with sandy or fluffy well draining soil you should be ok but if not you would have to dig a hole and add decent soil so you would be better off with a five gallon bucket i guess.
i would start plants indoors if possible as opposed to throwing a seed in the ground outside slugs,rabbits,deer,bugs of all sorts think mj is delicious, the plants should be decent size before going out

I would start them off in little plastic party cups outdoors. Wait for them to get at least 5 inches tall before planting straight in the ground.

sounds good till you come out one morning and theres some fat ass slug with his gut hangin out sittin next to a row of topless stems

for real? i'm in the upper midwest, and i don't think slugs are that common around here (my parents never had slug problems with their giant garden when i was growing up)

oh good cuz nothing else will eat sprouts

Check out brown dirt warrior on u-tube he has a pretty cool way of doing it by digging a big hole and filling it with top quality soil

That's what I did with one of my plants, big deep hole filled with MG organic potting soil and some native soil. I planted my others in what I believe are 8 gallon tree buckets. My two females (one in ground one in bucket) are almost identical in size and color. After genetics, its all about cultivation, nutes and water.

i always just put them directly in the ground and ive never had any problems
