in-line fans question

i might just be retarded but i really am confused....does an in-line fan just need to be turned around to be changed from "intake" to "exhaust"......lol im shopping for equipment and that's how i was expecting the fans to be labeled but they're all in-line.......i've never built a grow room before so i wouldn't know...thanks for any help

if I understand you right, they suck from one end and blow out the other so it could be used for a intake fan into the room or a exhaust from the room
