In need of sound advice

I've recently got ahold of a ak-47 clone from my medical provider. I want to grow inside a closet (3ft.x5ft.x2ft) using CFL's. I've never done the indoor process before and it's been over 30 yrs. since I've last done an outdoor grow. Outdoor grow is out of the question.
Since I only have 1 plant to work with, could someone please suggest to me how many lights I'll need to have a sucsessful grow?

i currently have 2 plants going and i have 6 cfls and 2 grow lights, you can never have enough lights, i would go with 4 or so

So long as you can keep your closet below 80 degrees the more lights the merrier.

if you go to the cfl subforum you should find ALL the info you need about the amount of lights for that type of area. one plant should have at LEAST 5000 lumens of light and with cfls you can keep the lights about 2 inches or so from your plants... also there are many ways to get a larger yield from one plant such as LST (low stress training) which is a technique where you gently bend and tie down the top part of the plant as it grows in order to allow side stems to shoot up and create more "cola" buds. this has been highly recommended for cfl growing due to the poor light penetration of cfls as well as the smaller yields you would tend to get with less lumens per watt (debatable). CFL forum definitely has alot of info on this as well as comparisons to other types of light and may give you some insight on ways to enhance your yield with diy reflectors specifically for cfls and such! also start a grow journal and people will be able to help you every step of the way as need may arise! good luck and if you start a journal let me know so i can follow it!!

I've had the plant for aprox. 2 ½ weeks and it's been under one of those "blue plant lights", just trying to keep it alive while searching for the right advice.
Looks like I'm definately in the right place.

You can use 42 watt cfl's that rate about about 2700 lumens. Use 5 or so, and it would work ok. You could also just get a 250 watt hps and it would work much better. They are cheap as well, and the heat would not be to big of a deal. A little bit of fan action would solve it. Better yet mother that nitch and take some clones and do a sog with a 600w. Just a thought.

An HPS like a 250 watt would give you better budding than the CFLs.
