In pots or in the ground?

Hello mates,

I am wondering if I should dig a large 20-30gallon hole and fill it with pro-mix or get a 20-30 gallon pot and fill that with the same medium?

Mainly wondering for yield purposes.

Also 20-30 Gallon which is best for yeild? Im well aware that root size determines yield, but am wondering from experiance what the major differance is.
Im looking for a LB per plant.

Started from seed and are goingout in mid may and harvest october.

Also I am using the lucas formula with maxibloom for nutrients to help them thrive.

Please don't put plants out before june with out light on them, too many people have reveg problems and its not worth the time loss.

You can get 1lb per plant in 20 gallons but its just easier in 30 gallons and not much more cost. I'm upset if I don't get minimum of 1.5lbs from a 30

ground or pot depends on what you want to do and where you live and the soil. The ground where I live now is almost all rock so I stay in pots. If I had to worry about height I would dig hole in the ground. If the soil where you are is good, like at my last house, then plant in the ground..

Hey mate, good to note.
Also I am in Canada.
So I plant after last frost like everyone else with max light.
My soil has quite a bit of clay in it.
I will be going with 30 gall grow bags.

Appriciate the help.
Nice plants by the way.

I have time, so I will see when I will put them out but I will likely put them out after last frost same as all my grower buddies do year after year.

you can move them aswell if their in pots

if its too hot , or to much rain when it flowers or you might find the sun and shade is better in a different part of the garden .

a old rasta man told me one day i asked him " how can i get more yeild " he asnswered ... " more roots more fruits brother " lol

good luck:).

a pot would be easier to drag across the floor than a growbag but if you want the bags then go for the round so you don't run the risk of corner bound .

its root bound in corner pots if this helps :)

round bags or a pot :)

Max light is june 21st, The summer solstice longest day of the year.
I dont know where in canada so i just picked a place. Check out your daylight hours and see if people around you have had their plants start flowering when put out in may. It happens to a lot of people here in cali. Their plants have to reveg and it wastes a lot of grow time.
if you have been vegging inside then throw a plant into 15 hours or less light it can start flowering. Just a tip from 15 years experience, Its happened to me 2 times and it kills the harvest.
some people are fine putting them out early but IMO its not worth the risk when its easy to keep light on them.

Why risk stressing your babies? Put out june 1st i still get over 4lbs a plant with 100 gallon pots

Just saying look into it, ive seen too many crops reveg from going outside too early.

Use giasma to determine I'd your location is receiving 14+ hours of light and plant in 30g smartpots.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Rollitup mobile app

I grew mine from seed.
Started using it when they were about 4 weeks old.Alternated it with a seaweed based feed once a week first feed of bloom was half strength then full strength a the way.Ill be doing the same next season yielded 5 oz out of a 15 gallon smart pot and 1.5 lb off the one in the ground.
