Hello RIU family n friends! While by all means I'm definitely a newb, my thoughts n thought process is always on hyper overdrive. Politely put, I'm a thinker! It doesn't take me long to comprehend or come up with things to do n try. While all this you probably couldn't tell by looking at any of my pics, I actually do have a 'Green Thumb' once I get into my groove. As I said in other threads n previous post on RIU, this is my 2nd attempt at growing n my 1st being 2-3 yrs ago. Call it beginners luck, but I was able to get 7ozs. off of 1 plant! Now, I'm sure to most that's nothing, but for me, the accomplishment was one to be truly proud of! So, with all the background I just laid down, I'm ready to go into my theory. With all marijuana plants being exactly that, plants, I fumbled around with how plants grow. You have Soil, which is enriched on its own, but requires extra nutrients to be successful for pot grow. Then you have the hydro way. Whether aeroponics, DWC, NFT, etc.etc.etc. This is the way I've chosen to grow this time n the last. I myself am fascinated by the no soil concept. I visit lakes, man made ponds, n outside environments in which the plants roots are completely submerged in water n if you ever seen cattail a or other aquatic plants grow, 6-9 feet is just the beginning. With the that being said, I thought that all plants are plants til you chose their medium n then they take on the life of whatever medium it's in. So this made me think more... What about aquarium plants? They require nutrients the same as soiled plants n even more so, hydro. So I thought to myself, what if I care for a pot plant the same way n care that an aquarium plant would be cared for? They require the same nutrients, but in different quantities. The main difference would really be the lighting in which the plants will receive. With that being said, I have a seedling that has been growing w/o any nutes as of right now. I'm toying with the idea of treating this seedling as if it was an underwater aquatic plant. I wanna or plan on following the nutrient schedule, plant or root protection n any other thing that is designed for the health of aquatic plants. To most this may sound stupid or foolish, but to me, it's just an experiment to learn n understand hydro n the benefits of the system better, but by hands on experience. Any input to this thread would be greatly appreciated. While I don't mind a good laugh, plz take into consideration that this is to inform others in either not to make this mistake or another way to care for their ladies, so I urge only serious n true questions be directed to n on this thread. I hope to hear from you die hard growers soon n thank you for your ear!
