Inconsistant vegetative cycle

Does anyone have any experience with an inconsistant vegatative light cycle. Like 24 hours one day 18/6 a different day, etc. Would it matter as long as its over 12 hours?..

I have and I am. As long as the dark period is nowhere near 12 hours you SHOULD be good. I do it to avoid timers and smart meters.

Do you think it's worth the risk to stress out your plants and diminish yield potential to save some $$ on electricity? I would say no. Pick either 18/6 or 24/0. I mean I can't prove that it will stress the plants out, but the more consistent you are the happier they will be.

Yes, consistency is a good thing. I wouldn't randomize my lighting schedule unless I was forced to. However, I'd be very careful randomizing the total dark period, as hotrodharley says. Try it, if you have the time and want to know for sure.
