Indoor Questions for Amature Grower

Okay, heres the deal, i have a chance to grow, and i want to take that chance. Im only 18 years old and i have been doing research for quite some time and now i have a few questions for the veterans.

1. growing indoors with hydro, if i happen to warm the temp of the water to keep the roots warm would this effect how it grows?

2. If i keep the air tempurature surrounding the plants cool, like a temp to keep smell down would that effect the plants?

3. what strains would be best to try these theories on?

My thought is if the root systems remain warm the plant should be fine because cold roots typically kills plants for outdoors when frost comes, but the cold air surrounding the plant itself shouldnt effect how the plant grows if the lighting is correct.

Any thoughts? suggestions? Thanks

1. hydro nutrient solution temps should be 65-70F, any higher than that and you will get root rot, warm roots encourage bacteria growth, and warm nute solution holds less oxygen.

2. keep it as cool as you can, thats usually the fight after you install some HIDs

3. depends on your favorite kind of buzz...

good luck ;-)

"If i keep the air tempurature surrounding the plants cool, like a temp to keep smell down would that effect the plants?" dont matter how cold the room gets.. if they are gonna stink they will stink.. i never heard of a temp to keep the smell down..

Welcome!

too much of anything is never a good thing. You want to keep your temperature within a certain range, which also ties into humidity.

As a newbie (like me) I would start with a soil grow before jumping into hydro. Soil is a lot more forgiving, and will provide you with basic horticultural knowledge through experience.

And I agree that temps don't have to do much with odor. If you're investing in a proper grow room, then you'll need some form of air ventilation/circulation system whereby you can attach a carbon filter to significantly reduce odors in the exhausted air.

Good luck!

i wouldnt recommend hydro for ur first grow unless its in coco. i failed horribly my first run cuz of water temps. i would start in coco and work ur way to full hydro after u get a harvest or two under ur belt so u get a better understanding of what ur doing. cuz u can read and read. but until u actually try it u have no idea what to look and watch for. less can go wrong in coco and its still considered hydro. more newb friendly.
