Hi, I am planning on getting a carbon fliter plus fan for my room. The specs are for both

Flange
6"
Optimal CFM
440
Carbon Norm
CTC70
Avg. Life Expectancy of Carbon
1.5 yrs
Carbon Layer Thickness
52mm
Maximum Temperature
180 Celsius

My current room is 7ft x 7ft

My question is what specs should my intake be? Can i just get a regular In-Line Duct Booster Fan at home depot with 160 CFM

thanks

Those inline duct booster fans can't move enough air through ductwork to be of any use with a filter. As soon as there is any ductwork or elbows attached to these fans, actual CFM drops to almost nothing. What you need is an actual inline centrifugal fan. You can find them on ebay, or through hydro suppliers (can fan). I got mine from an HVAC supplier, the S&P TD 150. It works great with my 6" filter and variable speed fan control.

no, you cannot use the Duct Booster fan. They will not work at all with a carbon filter. They will not pull air against the back pressure. Notice the "booster" in the name? all they do is help boost the air down long ducts when an inline fan isn't strong enough to pull/push the air thru the whole length.

Wait, do you mean you already have an inline for the carbon filter and exhaust rated at 440cfm and want to know about just using a separate 160 cfm duct booster fan for intake?

If so, yes that would probably be fine in most situations. Normally you just wouldn't want any active intake exceeding the exhaust so that you maintain some negative pressure in the room.
