Innovative Res temp control

Thought I would post this. It has helped decrease my res temps a bit. I want to say I can run it for an hour and temps drop ~ 5 degrees and that's with 90 degree air temps outside the grow room. My res temps hover between 74-78 degrees in summer. As I said this is with 90 degree air temps outside the grow room. My reservoirs are in contact with a basement floor as well which also help keep temps down.

When I get home from work my res temps are ~ 77 degrees. I run the wart chiller which is connected to the house line. This allows the water that's in underground pipes (~68 degrees municipal supply) to run through the wart chiller thus cooling the surrounding solution. It brings the temps down to 70 degrees in a little over an hour. My system volume is : Grow 40 gallons, Flower 70 gallons. I run a RDWC system. This has replaced the frozen bottle shuffle for me anyway.

Sounds wasteful if I'm understanding.
You're using a continuous supply of tap water to cool the res?
Just dumping the tap from the wort chiller?

The run off from the wart chiller heads out to the veggie garden outside. I never measured the volume but my water bill has not increased. I only went this route because of my limited space indoors, or else I would have gotten a chiller. The diameter of the coil is also small and does not allow as much as you think to pass through. I do see the concern you raise, but in my case is has not been a concern. This wart chiller would also be a great piece to incorporate into a chiller cooled system.

i was wondering if anyone had given this a shot. I may have to dig my old wart chiller out of the attic. I knew having all those co2 cylinders and chillers and kettles from my old homebrew hobby would come in handy one day.

Ive done all kinds of crazy stuff bottles, pipes, and etc. but nothing compares or even comes close to an iceprobe chiller and lowes 5 gallon cooler. Took twenty minutes to set up, i have it set to a thermostat as well so it wont get too cold, temps are a perfect 68F all day long even in the middle of 95F summer. It doesnt even run that much, runs at 50watts about 5 to 7 hours a day during the summer months.
