Let me state first that DIY is not for me. I'm not mechanically inclined in any sort of way. I was convinced that i was going to try out HGLs 135 watt QB for a 2x2 max 3x3. I also looked at Timber cobs so wanted to know the real differences in your OPINION(no jack asses please) and if it's possible any of these might be recommended before a $200+ light.

Yes, personally I am not a fan of having them all bunched together on a small board.
So multiple small boards is a step up.

Yeah, i know better lights cost money, but i didn't want to drop that much yet. Thats why i figured i heard good stuff on HGL but see everyone using cobs. Wanyed to maybe yest put a good but lesser expensive cob before commiting.

cobs just came first so there are more of them out there
QBs or cobs using luminus, vero, citizen, or cree are your best option

the only decent light out of the ones you listed was the cxb3590 one but even that they were driving the chip twice as hard as most people do which will hurt efficiency

cheap lights will only waste your money when they are sitting in the corner later. if you cant build your own or afford a decent led rig id just buy a 315W CMH which would be better than anything in that list

so much bullshit and so many inaccuracies and misrepresentations i dont know where to start

one thing i will bet you- whoever wrote that "Article" is one company that sells every single garbage light they recommend.

I kinda could tell as ibe never seen any threads on any of them aside from Roladeo and maybe mention of the King led. I feel its almost a given to shoot for 1 HGL 135 and get a second when im used to it but just wanted to see if their was any values out there. I don't mind the $209 or about there for each 135w so appreciate the feedback.

First decide on the area you need to fill, in your Original post it said a 2x2 or 3x3 well between those two can be a variety of options. Aim for minimum 35w - 50w sq/ft average.
If your going to invest into an Led light then do it right, a proper one will last you 7-10 years so you will get a ton of grows out of it might as well get the most bang for your buck on each grow. You would hate to spend 200 bucks on an ok light and regret not spending 400 in the first place.
DIY is very easy and can save you hundreds of dollars, having said that if you are still wanting someone else to build it, look at growerslights and they charge a small fee to assemble the HLG kits for you.

Its not the COB that's super good, its the efficiency of the lighting. Be it Quantum boards or COBs.
QB is a brand so you know what your getting, where COB is a type of LED but since they took off so well so did sticking COB in the title of half the lights on amazon it doesn't make them good lights.

$185 for a HLG 135w kit. It doesn't count as DIY because its wiring a plug and turning like 3 screws
