Into week 5 and still no preflowers....

I am starting to get impatient lol...will i still be able to safely sex my plants if i just start the 12/12 lighting schedule now? or is it not a good idea to just switch over without them starting to preflower? they are about a 1 1/4 ft tall right now (FIMed) and I feel like they should have started to show some signs of maturity by now...oh and one more question...i am supposed to be looking where the nodes meet the main stalk right? or is it on the branches that im supposed to be looking? sorry im a first time grower with so many questions but id really appreciate the help

it wont matter if you switch scedules to 12/12
dosent matter if you switch
look where nodes meet main stalk in the crotch where they meet
