Ipower 6" or 4" fan for my 32x32x53 tent?

I've already purchased the "speed controller. So keep that in mind. My number one priority is sound number 2 is scrubbing the air. Ice read that 4 inches have to spin faster so they are actually louder than 6inches. What's everyone's thoughts?

*** Will it be louder than the oscillating fans either way 4 or 6?

32x32x63 isn't very big.. I would honestly like the 4 over the 6 but like I said I want it to be as quiet as possible

It's not just the space that needs to be accounted for with the decision of an adaquate fan, lighting also needs to be factored in.

For example.
If you said you were going to use a 400w HPS within that area I would say go for a fan around 5" but it needs to be an actual inline centrifugal fan not a cheap bathroom style fan.

If you said you were going to use a 600w HPS in there I would say you'll need to air cool the lighting rig with a 5" fan and use a 4" fan to extract the air in the area.

If you said you were going run a 1000w hps in there I would say your room is too small.

You'll need to factor all this in.

ROOM cubic volume.
+
20% for the restriction applied by a carbon filter
+
10% for a 400w non aircooled hood (5% if air cooled)
+
5-20% for duct runs depending upon size and length of ducting
=
CFM/m3 required for your fan to run effectively and cool your area at the same time.

I use a 6" Hyper fan for a tent slightly larger. I started with a 4" cheapo. Now the 4" made some noise itself, plus the sound of air movement. My 6" fan is silent. Only noise is the air movement. I also figure I will increase of area eventually so better to have extra capacity.
But the 6" is going at a much slower RPM so the air movement is much slower, making it quieter.
If you are looking at sound, I think you would be better served with a 6". If COMPLETE silence is your goal, you may need a muffler.

I know you said sound is #1 but Jonda makes a good point above.
I grow in a basement so I am able to only use one fan.

I should have included that i have 600 watts leds and its 80 degrees in there which is almost perfect temp wise. It doesn't matter I can raise the temp in the room it's in or lower it and the tent will respond.... So controlling the temp inside the tent I'm not much worried about. It's mainly smell and noise and noise is more important. Thank you for your in depth reply! I will continue to read everything I can

Another thing to consider is what's going to happen to all the air you're extracting from your tent?

Are you dumping it all into the area where your grow is located?

If so your ambient room temperature will increase thus creating a warmer temp within your grow

If you recirculate the air within the room the tent is in, ie dumping all your filtered tent air into the ambient room it's gonna get smelly over time.

If you duct all your air away from the ambient room your smell will be virtually non existent with the correct filtering.

I personally use a 6" 440CFM fan in a grow that's approx 3x4x7 sped controlled for summer/winter running.

I can confirm that a higher power fan run on a controller produces less noise than the smaller fan run on full power.

I also over SPEC my filter.

Using a RHINOPRO 900CFM filter.

This way I get longevity out of filter also.



6" FAN speed controlled with an over spec filter, all ducted away from ambient room and you'll be golden.

Get he 6in if temps aren't a problem you can go 75% speed.

Better to invest now then realize you need the 6in after you purchased the 4incher

Donnt expect either to be quiet though, they make noise no matter what

Also a Hurricane fan may be about $20 or so more but it has a 5 year warranty. Anyone backing a fan for 5 years probably makes a pretty good fan. Amazon sells em as do other places.

I work for a company that has a lifetime replacement warranty of EVERY product, but the products are shit china and do fail prematurely often. The company knows that people are lazy, didnt keep reciepts etc and only a small portion will actually return the product. But putting that warranty on the box generates alot more sales.

Obviously isnt the case with every company, but dont always base the quality on the fact that there is a warranty

USA/Canada/Korea/Japan built products is where I base more trust in the product lasting
