Is 10 seeds enough?

Hi All,

I got my grow book in the mail and am ready to jump on it and start my own grow. I'm ready to start ordering seeds, but I'm wondering if 10 is enough? I have enough licenses to grow 18 plants right now and plan to expand to 24-30.

I know these plants can be cloned, but I'm sure if the seeds are sold in 10's that some won't grow into plants. So is 10 enough or should I buy more? (I plan on buying feminized seeds so costs will add up quickly)

personally, i think for a first time grower 10 seeds is plenty. depending on what size light you have you can usually only get up to 4 to 6 plants under it. if you have two lights you can clone.. id say 10 is plenty. you might wanna buy an extra set of seeds so you dont have to buy em again for like a year.. idk bro, it all depends on how much you want and how big your gonna grow them..

i ordered a shitload of seeds. 10 big bud fem (sensi), 10 blueberry fem (DP), 20 Chocolate Chunk (THSEEDS), 10 Northern Lights Regular (sensi), 4 O.G. Kush 18 fem (Reserva Privada), and 30 WonderWoman Reg (Nirvana).

I started 8 big buds- ended up with 6 decent sprouts
Started 9 blueberry- ended up with 7 decent sprouts, 1 no grow, 1 retard plant
started 10 choc chunk- ended up with 9 decent sprouts.
started 8 N.L. - ended up with 5 good sprouts, 1 no germ, 2 no grow
started 2 o.g. kush- 2 decent sprouts-
started a whopping 30 Wonder Woman- 4 germed but no growth, 26 didn't pop. pissed.

i would look into DNA or Reserva Privada for feminized seeds. Dutch Passion for regulars. i would recommend regular seeds so you don't have the chance of hermaphrodites for your first grow.

i would jump right in if i was you and start all 18 that you can. you might only end up with 10 decent plants you know?

Yep, Nirvana was ok a few years ago, but these days their genetics suck. Barneys Farm, DNA, G-13, Reserva are good genetics. Greenhouse and Arjan know their shit. But have not really heard that many good things said about their 'colored seeds'. Hard germ is what I have heard most.
Sorry, back to your ?. 10 quality femmed seeds should be plenty. Germ 3 and veg for awhile. Pick the strongest plant for a mom and flower the other 2. Germ 3 more, ect..... Should get you off too a good start. Maybe Attitudes pick and mix. Get 2 or 3 strains to work with and see what suits your style and needs best. :mrgreen:

I've been noticing that Nirvanna has some prices that seem good on fem seeds. I have never tried them but hesitate when I hear people say they don't germ or don't sprout. Maybe I've been lucky but almost all my fem seeds have sprouted and with no hermies.

Let me elaborate a bit on Nirvana. The seeds germ and sprout ok. The Papaya is a bitch to germ, thick skinned I guess. My issue with most of their seeds now is this. Very slow to start, you gotta baby them through veg and transition. If you are going to grow Nirvana along with say Barneys. Start the Nirvana 10-14 ahead of Barney. 4-6 weeks later you cant really tell the difference in germ times. Guess thats beef. But I gotta tell ya. The Papaya is some sticky, heavy smoke in the end if done right.
My bad, shouldnt of said they sucked. Just should have explained better.:shock:
