Is 1200watts Enough For 6'x6' Area?

Hey guys, thanks for reading my thread. I feel like a real newbie asking this question considering I've been growing like 4yrs and already think I have my answer, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Is 2 600watt HPS enough light to cover a 5'8"x5'8" area? I am guessing that most of the plants will get fine light, I'm wondering about the plants on the outside of the garden.

My old cab was 4'x4' and I ran just one 600watt in there with great results. But that was only 16sq ft, where as the 6x6' area is 36sq ft. Well it is closer to 33sq ft but its close enough.

I have been running a vert grow these past two go arounds and just haven't been impressed with them. The yeild is not really any higher than with my flat gardens. I was getting like 12oz off one 600watt light in that 4'x4' area, and only pulled 19oz from my first vert harvest with 1000watts. This harvest hasn't been completly dried and weighed, but it's not looking great, and that was with the 1200watts.

What do you guys think about the 1200watts in a 5'8"x5'8" area with like 25 plants?

Thanks for the replies,

Bob

id say 1200w is plenty for that footprint. 25 plants is alot, but i guess not if u keep them in small containers. i can only have 12 legally so i try to get the biggest plants outta my 12. with 25 in that size area ur gonnna have to lst supercrop or top and do hieght control. for the ones on the outter sides of the light, use some cfls for side lighting or 24'' or 48'' floros.

Thanks for the replies.

I am going with the 25plants because it is like 1 plant per sq foot. It is actually less than one plant per sq ft, so I'm thinking the plant numbers should work out fine. I am just worried about the coverage of the lights.
