Using a 80 watt sunleaves commercial pump but it is loud and puts a lot of heat in the grow room, got the sound down but still not happy with it. Considering using a 25 LPM Hakko/Matala pond pump because I can get the wattage down by roughly 75% and the few reviews I found said that they were quiet, but wanted more information before I make a decision.
Set Up:
6 to 8 buckets (8 max, mostly 6)
Buckets hold more then one plant.
400 w light
8 inch vortex exhaust running at roughly 50% on a variable speed fan controller pulling exhaust through a goblin charcoal filter. sound is not a problem at this rate.
80 watt sunleaves pump (loud)
Considering either a Hakko/Matala 25 LPM or Alita 15 LPM to accomplish the following:
Reduce electricity (either is fine, just want to replace the 80 watt one)
Reduce heat build up in the cabinet by removing the air pump to an outside location. (right now it is sitting next to the pots and the one's closest run 5 to 7 degrees hotter.)
Reduce NOISE, the hydro store guy suggested I wrap it in terry cloth. It works but the unit does not get cooled sufficiently.
Grow is going well but the room is hot and the higher I run the fan the more the overall noise is.
If anyone is using a pond aeration pump please let me know the good and the bad.
Thanks,
Idra
