Is it bad to cure using plastic containers?

Hello fellow RIU members! I am preparing all of the materials I will need once my plant has been chopped/dryed and it is time to cure. I have bought 6 medium sized glass jars to cure with from my local dollar store. However, I don' t think they will provide enough space for all the luscious nuggets that my plant has produced. In addition to these I have a large, square, air-tight plastic tub that I wanted to cure with.

Will this change/affect the curing process in a negative way?

The risk you run with plastic is that if that they smell, and can imart their smells on your medicine. if plastics have had anything in them, even food grade plastics, they will absorb the scent. new plastic has a chemical odor. I think that a well washed, unused, food-grade plastic container will probebly be safe. But it is that probably that will send me out to buy more glass. because i will not risk the quality of my medicine on "probably".

good point hempshark. i once buried some weed in a used pickle barrel, and it made my weed pickly when i got it out. it was subtle enough that no one said anything, but i knew the smell of the barrel got in the tree.
on the flipside of that, i always use plastic bags, but sometimes i use paper bags to put the tree in, then put the paper bags in a plastic bag. once the smaller nugs are snappy, its time to slow it down one way or the other.

I wish I could find a massive glass jar that was air tight Instead I'll have to have like 12 small ones !

is this your first time harvesting? all your big nugs are probably going to get smaller when they dry.

Yep this is gonna be my first harvest. I know they will shrink in the drying process but I still think I will need like 6 more jars at least! I have this big pseudo-tupperware container which would fit them all no doubt.

You should check out goodwill or salvation army stores. You can find, for real cheap, nice big ols school glass jars that would work great! )

hey dude if it's your first harvest you should consider what you plan on doing with all the trim, stalks, root mass and soil etc as well, just a heads up happy harvest OP your going about it right the right way.. btw go get some more glass jars and loose the plastic idea

idk if u have a michaels craft store by you but if u do they have 1gallon mason jars for about 2$ each

I plan on cooking a Christmas tree shaped cake using all of the sugar leaves/random popcorn nuggies. Thanks for all the insight, I am ditching the plastic and working on getting more glassware I should be harvesting right around Christmas. I'll be sure to post pics of my first pull hanging up to dry.
