is it bad to have cats in the same home your growing in??

not unless your cats are going to eat your plants or knock them over or what not.. other than that, i don't see why on earth a cat would be bad for a grow.. cats are people too, lol..

If cats are people then they're nosey people. A cat will investigate thoroughly anthying new in its surroundings. This means they will nibble at leaves. They may even eat entire plants under 3 weeks old. They will paw at dirt. They will dig a plant up at times. They have been know to brush up against everything. And they use strange things to sharpen their claws on. I keep my cat the fuck out of my grow room.

i let my cat eat small fan leaves, she likes them and they stop hairballs.

Hairs in the buds will likely happen, I don't give a fuck about a couple hairs in my buds if that means my pet(s) can chill with me while I work, but the main issue is pests. They can harbor and transport some nasties in to your grow room, especially considering the season. And this isn't limited to cats (or other pets) that go outside, indoors pet can have mites, for example. So hit you pets with some frontline, comb them a bit, and just generally keep them clean and it should not be a real issue.
Also watch out for a cat that will eat your shit, my cat will never knock anything over, but he will eat my plants, and drink water from my rez (clean water only, but it's still lame). So I don't let him in there, but my dogs chill with me all the time, never had a problem, I think lol...

i think a lot of you are missing what the op had said.. he just asked if it was ok to have a cat in the same house as a grow, not the same room.. i have both a cat and a dog, and i let neither of them into my grow area, but i sure as poo don't have any issues with them being in any of the rest of my house..

As long as they don't have access to the grow it's fine. You'll get some hairs still if your cat is anything like mine (she's as fluffy girl) and leaves hair everywhere.
My cat, who doesn't like smoke or dry pot, loves fresh weed. She gets as interested in it as catnip. I feed her fan leaves sometimes and she goes crazy for them.

For those who haven't had it happen, cats will always seek soil to urinate in...your palnts or otherwise...one day your palnt will begin dying and you son't have a clue....and nothing will save it....I've grown bonzai trees for 45 years....left very nice bonzai with a friend to keep during a move....her cat pissed in plant apparently...took plant to plant hospital and the diagnosis was..."is this plant around any cats?"...nuff said.

Pets and grow rooms don't mix. Shower and have fresh "Grow room" Clothing. Its easy to contaminate your budz!!!!!! 
Cats have the appearance of a clean animal, but they are dirty as fuck. Who knows what any animal could bring into your grow room...including yourself! You can't see it, but does not mean its not around.
1. Hygiene
2. cleanliness
3. common sense
follow those rules before entering your grow op, some might think of it as being anal, but it might be more important then you think
If you leave your plants alone aside from feeding / inspection. Chances are your plants are going to be healthy. Its also important to not "Show off" the grow room. Not only for security, but sanitary reasons. Your girls are delicate organisms.

1 of my damn cats got in my closet and now have hair on it but no signs of anything but hair...we have alot of animals it kinda sucks becuz if i leave my door open to room they know how to open closet using there paws(crazy right)...But to answer ur ?? i think its fine to have them in ur house but prob not so smart to have in ur room cats r pretty nasty exp..if they r outside cats and they kill birds rats mice extttt...
