Is it ok to add perlite to FFOF?

Hey, I'm not the best with soils and couldn't find a direct answer. Would it be alright to mix ffof and perlite in a ratio of 2:1(2 part ffof 1 part perlite)? This soil would be used for vegetative and flowering stages.

I thought I read it somewhere on this forum but I couldn't find it with the search engine so any info would be helpful, thank you.

Yes, along with some dolomite lime.

Try the perlite at 3/1 first and see how it looks.

For me, when it looks like you have too much, it's just right.

I'm gonna use 20%, just because that's plenty of drainage, and you wanna have some soil in there as well xD

Yeah you're right, it's always better to add too little and be able to add more.

and how much dolomite lime do you think, should I just keep adding and then check and stop when it's at the right point?

If you top-dress, use a fork to loosen the top layer of soil and work the lime in. I like to throw an extra layer of soil over that to keep it from drying out and not working. 2 TBSP per gallon of soil.

If you mix it in, use 1 cup per cubic ft. So if you have a 1.5 cubic ft bag, you would add 1 1/2 cups lime. Powdered lime will last your whole grow.

I stay away from the pelletized lime, there's some types that are just clay pellets rolled in powdered dolomite, so they're pretty useless. I guess there's some real shit out there but the powder works well enough.

Xcon responded to my question about lime with that, very helpful.
