Realisticly cutting away all the growth outside of the main stem would redirect all the energy into what's remaining and it'll thrive. However I can't speak from experience. It's an idea. Since lots of people remove all the lower flowering locations that don't produce, I can't see why your idea wouldn't work. The question is how much stress will that cost on the plant and is there enough fan leafs remaining to keep the plant going. Post a pic of what your working with.

You can cut the main cola and the plant will live just fine. Last grow, I had a Critical Jack Herer that was so tall I had to harvest the main cola three weeks before the rest. I stuck a stem from a fan leaf in the hole. Didn't miss a beat.

IDK about mildew but you might want to correct that before it gets the rest of your buds.
Good luck, she'll be fine.

I've often seen that be a suggestion to allow the lower buds to mature more, so I doubt it would completely kill the plant. But, it would, I'm sure, matter (1) how much of the plant you remove, and (2) how much longer til harvest you have, in an inverse relationship.

Cheers and good luck!

I chopped a clone in half that was too spindly. It worked just fine. I turned it from a 12 inch twig into a bush.

Yea i only got about two weeks left,
But obv id rather take the nice main cola wich is top halff pf the plant. The plant is about 24 inches so im cutting away half that.
Also i cut a few fan leaves off that had pm on it. But still got about 6-8 more.
I appreciate u guys helping me out.
