I recently began my first, so far successful, grow from seeds I had collected in the past year and started flowering 9 days ago. On the 4th day I could distinguish the males. I killed them a couple days later after dertermining that they were not hermies. As I was spending quality time with the ladies today, I noticed that they both look considerably different. 1 is indica and the other is sativa. The thing is, I began flowering the indica 4 days after I had started the sativa, yet they both have almost exactly the same amount of calyx growth. I thought it took sativa a longer time period to grow. Is it possible for indica and sativa to flower at the same rates? Or does it just seem that way because its the beginning of the flowering cycle?
Actually, I have another question...
I read that you should take clones before flowering. But it never said you could not and/or reasons why you shoud not take clones from a female in flowering. It never dawned on me to take clones before flowering. Then once the plants showed their sex, I could just throw away the clones that were taken from males. Is it too late to take clippings from these females?
